Topic: The Chit-Chat Thread

So... would you guys be up for helping me come up with a name for the game I'm currently designing? :3

@Gioku what's the genre or basics of the concept?(in college I once learned that speaking like a pro actually helps!)
I'd love to help naming a game!!!

@GuSilverFlame OK, I'll give you my basic plans so far:

So my idea originated from a dream I had of playing Mutant Mudds, but it was crossed with World of Goo as far as theme went. So this seemed like a great idea to me! It'll be a run-'n'-gun, retro platformer like Mutant Mudds but with a strange, dark, unsettling story and aesthetic like World of Goo (with some Steam Punk thrown in for good measure). I want to include classic gaming tropes like ice, sand, and fire worlds, but with a unique spin. Like, the ice world will be first, but it will be an old, abandoned cold storage facility where the refridgeration systems have gone out-of-control and are freezing the surroundings as well. Inside will be pitch-black and humanlike creatures crawl around the walls and ceiling.

@Gioku ok give me a minute and I'll come up with a few names.

@GuSilverFlame my idea so far has been "The Unfortunate Tale of [insert something here]"... I'm not sure what it should be an unfortunate tale of yet... I came up with 'Eternity's Game', or 'Soliloquy's Game', but I didn't like either of those very much. :/

ok here it goes the first names that I came up with(one of them isn't for real and it will be obvious which one I'm talking about)

• first the compliments to "the unfortunate tales of"
  Sunflare(you must agree it sounds SUUUUUPER COOL like this)
  Steelround(more nonsense that sounds cool)
  Darkness(generic but classy)
  Hope(this one will make all darker and mind twisting, why would hope be an unfortunate situation?)
• now the names I came up with from scratch
  Twisted Degrees(it sounds dark and fits the first level)
  Railchain(but only if the game has a Railgun as the main weapon)
  DeathWish(this one is focused on the dark unsetling story you mentioned)
  Super Survival of the World: Save the Unniverse from the Demon King: EX Ultimate Dual Explosion SP
  Slashed Minds(it sounds cool, not much to say)

@GuSilverFlame thanks, I came up with an idea from looking at all those! I forgot to mention earlier, but there will be an old lighthouse as a central part of the story. So I came up with, after thinking about that and seeing your 'DeathWish' idea, I came up with The Unfortunate Tale of the Lighthouse Wish. Or "The Lighthouse Wish" for short. I think that sounds awesome, what do you think?

The lighthouse idea comes from a thing I read about a long time ago where a guy was designing a game called 'the lighthouse' on the Gamemaker forums. As far as I can tell, he never actually made it. But the ideas from it were great, and I've always kinda wanted to do something like it. So making the lighthouse an important part is kind of an homage to that.

@Metroidlink haha no, he's been here a lot longer than me (he's been here since 2009). I might be using that username if it wasn't for him, though! XD I'd like to meet him sometime, but he's usually inactive these days, unfortunately.
