Topic: Games You Replayed the Most?

Really cool thread!

My most played game is KH2 Final Mix - I don't have an exact number, but it's quite a lot since I played this game for hours as a kid then had a resurgence in play time post high school. Somewhere between 300-350 I reckon, since the in-game timer doesn't count all the hours spent re-doing the post-game bosses on hard mode. I've probably beat the game 4-5 times at least.

MH World I have over 250 as well because, well, it's MH haha.

Hard to think of too many more I replayed a lot, I don't revisit often.

The Legend of Dark Witch 1 and 2. Really good games for speedrunning. I also frequently replay Gunvolt and Celeste.

@I-U I love reading about your devotion to Metroid Prime Hunters, and seeing those raw numbers showing how much you still play it gives me warm feelings. Bravo.

Thank you. It's crazy to think that before I got my first taste of Metroid with First Hunt and then the full Metroid Prime Hunters release, I didn't really replay games all that often. At most, I think I might have had a handful of runs through Super Mario Land 2 and a couple for Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Metroid Prime Hunters changed my perspective on just how much I can get from the games I own. Generally with each game I replay, I already know I'm going to enjoy what I'm playing and do end up with a different experience at some level. Just replaying games with (more) experience in itself can lead to different experiences, and it's very enjoyable to develop a mastery of a particular game(s).

@Zeeeus I still have yet to beat Celeste lol. I'm at chapter 9 and gave up halfway because the levels got so hard and they even made my hands ache.

Good... good
Now play Dragon Quest

As far as I'm concerned, the first 7 chapters qualifies as beating Celeste, and everything else is extra.

Adding to my previous post, I played a lot of Mario Kart 64, Double Dash, and DS when I was younger. MK64 is easily my most nostalgic one, that was the first one I played. I played Diddy Kong Racing a lot as a kid too. Though, out of all the Mario Kart games (and kart racers in general), MKW and MK8 are still my most replayed. Mainly because of their online multiplayer.

I'd put Super Metroid on my list of most replayed games too. I actually went ahead and beat it two times in a row on NSO last year, my most recent playthrough had me getting all the items in the game. I think I'd put Metroid: Zero Mission up there as well. I didn't get 100% completion in that game, but just for fun I did beat it as quickly as I could, to the best of my ability anyway. I finished it under two and a half hours.

My 390 hours in Pokemon Shield is probably all I need to say (and in that time I only found 3 shinies, one of which was a random encounter, the other was a Dmax adventure and the last was the only successful egg hunt I've ever done. Raaaaaad.)

Max Payne 2
My favourite third-person shooter of all time. The graphics are still quite decent, even by today's standard.

Half-Life 2 (+ Episode 1/2)
One of my favourite first-person shooters of all time. I just really love the story and physics based puzzles. Definitely hurts we never got to see the conclusion. Maybe some day..

C&C Red Alert 2 (+ Yuri's Revenge)
I haven't replayed this for ages, but it's definitely a game I've went back to a lot of times over the years and I think it still looks fantastic. Can't really say I replay the campaign though, I'd just have a few skirmish matches and that's it.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
My all time favourite Zelda game and one I've replayed many times.

I'm sure there are more games, but these are the ones I've replayed more times than I can count. There are definitely a lot more games I'd like to replay more often, but when you keep buying new games, it can be hard to justify going back to an old one you've already played before. Probably just means I should stop buying so many new games.. ^^'

EDIT: I just remembered I used to replay Return to Castle Wolfenstein quite often as well, but haven't done so for ages.. probably about time I do so again!

If we're going by amount of times completed I'd guess it's Resident Evil 4. I must be close to 20 completions now and have bought it five or six times when you add up all the different releases. I miss the Wii version...
FF7 would probably win if it's hours played.

I play each Zelda game ( including botw) 3-4 times a year. Usually I only play Mario games 1-3 times every 2 years for context. Like I legit am sitting through the credits of ocarina as I type.

The original Sonic the Hedgehog for Sega Genesis. Didn't have this one on an actual Genesis, but between playing this one on Dreamcast, GameCube, GBA, DS, Wii, 3DS, phone, Switch and PC via Steam, I've replayed this game way too many times over the years.

Also, Super Mario All-Stars. Between SNES, Wii, and NSO I replayed this one a lot. If I check SNES NSO, I have 10 hours played.

Pokemon Blue and Yellow, played these a lot in their heyday, Blue even more because I have the 3DS re-release.

Star Fox 64, I can't count how many times over the years I replayed this on N64, Wii, Wii U, and the 3DS remaster.

The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!

I usually don't replay longer games, but there are some exceptions.

Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow/Gold/Silver/Crystal - I've played these via emulators back in the day and have since played them all again after purchasing them on 3DS.

Pokémon Emerald - I've probably played this around seven or so times, even though it's my least favourite generation, and I've also emulated this prior to owning a DS, which was my first handheld console.

The Sims: Bustin' Out (GBA) - I've played this a few times. First emulated, because the GBA edition was never released in Australia (and I totally would have bought a GBA for this game alone). One of my favourite games of all time. Absolutely love it.

The Urbz: Sims In The City (GBA/DS) - Played the GBA version by emulator (as the GBA version wasn't released in Australia either), and I rushed out and bought a DS to play the DS version. I've probably completed it about 8 times. I was also starved for games at the time as I couldn't afford to buy more. The only other games I owned from mid-2005 to late-2005 was Nintendogs and The Sims 2 (DS). There are many QoL improvements over its predecessor The Sims: Bustin' Out (GBA), but I wasn't digging the new "street" art style or sound design. Still a terrific game, but it doesn't elicit the same warm memories as the first game.

The Sims 2 (DS) - Played this a bunch of times too. Partly due to a game-breaking glitch in the alien autopsy mini-game, but this mode isn't required, and can be completely ignored for a smooth, relatively bug-free experience. This has even less heart than the last two games, unfortunately, and I was slightly optimistic that EA would have used this new 3D engine for the handheld iterations moving forward, but they completely threw it all out the window by producing the hideous, buggy abomination that is The Sims 2: Pets on DS.

The Sims (PC) - I've lost count of the number of reinstallations, but I usually start fresh every time (even though I'm pretty sure I have a back-up of my 2000s neighbourhoods on a hard drive or disc somewhere). Still holds up along with The Sims 2. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the latter to run on Windows 10, but the first game still runs perfectly.

Commander Keen: Goodbye Galaxy (PC) - Among my favourite PC games ever. I particularly love the second of the two episodes (usually referred to as "Keen 5"). Love the level design, the aesthetic, and the multitude of diverse enemies, and I'm not even into space games. I think my love of varied enemy types was what lead to my love of series like Pokémon some years later.

Captain Comic (PC) - I would perhaps describe this as a Metroid-style explorative platformer, and I used to play this practically every day in Kindergarten. It wasn't the longest of games and can be completed in about half an hour if you know where to go. I'm surprised that 4/5 year old me was so adept at this game as I am pretty hopeless with actual 2D Metroid games as an adult, but I think the familiarity of it, and the frequency at which I played it helped. There was also a NES adaptation which has a completely different art style (but very similar map layout).

Super Mario Land (GB/3DS) - I've played the 3DS VC version a bunch of times. Great for quick sessions thanks to its brevity.

Orcs and Elves (DS) - Another one of my all-time favourites. I think I've played the easiest difficulty 2-3 times and also completed it at the two harder difficulties. A sequel was made for (pre-smartphone) mobiles, but sadly, it wasn't ported to any other device/platform, and it evidently wasn't successful enough to warrant a DS port, which is such a shame. It is very similar to iD Software's other mobile games DOOM II RPG and Wolfenstein RPG.
