Topic: Games You Replayed the Most?

I don't normally replay games but when I do, that means the game is really special to me. And that I also tend to go overboard.
At the top of my head here are the games I replayed the most:

Dragon Quest 9 - One of my favorite games of all time, I beat this around 4 times I would like to say? The vocation system, fun combat gives you more of a reason to go back to this game, as well as restart even.

Pokemon XY - I lost count of how many times I beat this game but I did do it often, definitely more than DQ9 so easily 5+ times, its probably my most replayed game. I liked doing it so much because I found it fun beating the story with a different team each time or playing around with the outfits for both genders.

Pokemon HGSS - Same reasons as above, though no customization options though sadly. I beat this game like 4+ times I would say.

Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 - A niche DQ spinoff that has existed for a while, its basically if Dragon Quest went all in for the Monster collecting mechanic they did in DQ5. I would even argue they did it just as well as pokemon if not better. I beat this many times as well, I think a big factor is that DQ monsters - specifically the joker sub series gives you more customization options for your monsters. They can have a bunch more than just 4 moves you can incorporate different skills trees and fuse monsters together and basically create whatever monster you want.

Kid Icarus Uprising - This game was really underrated, the combat was fun, the story was charming, the voice acting was funny and good. I beat the story multiple times just to hear the dialogue alone, this isn't even counting all the weapons you can play with. Can't remember how many times though unfortunately.

Dragon Quest 11 - I just beat this one twice; once in a normal play and again in 2D mode which I feel is highly underrated. Although they play completely differently and they could honestly be they're own games I counted this one anyway.

What games did you replay alot of how many times? If you can remember better than me lol.

Mario & Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story was definitely the game I played the most. I think I played through it like 6 or 7 times? I even managed to complete it to 100% completion twice however I only did it the second time because my brother deleted my original 100% completed file lol.

On my switch, I'm on my 5th playthrough of Fire Emblem: Three Houses but that's mainly because I wanted to do all the routes. I also played through Undertale 3 times, Ys VIII 2 times, and Xenoblade Chronicles DE 2 times. There's so many other games I want to do another playthrough of but I'm still trying to finish the backlog first lol.

Add me on switch if you like Xenoblade :)

Usually Zelda or Metroid games get the most replay for me.

I rarely replay games. But there are a few that have stood the test of time.

  • Mega Man 3 (at least 5 full playthroughs in my life)
  • DKC Returns (3 100% playthroughs)
  • DKC Tropical Freeze (3 100% playthroughs)
  • Monster Hunter World (2 playthroughs)
  • Monster Hunter Rise (currently on 2nd playthrough)
  • Fire Emblem Three Houses (halfway through 2nd playthrough)

There are also a number of games I played through twice due to getting a Switch port. Normally I don’t think I would have played them a second time but experiencing them on the hybrid was enough of a reason.

  • Pikmin 3 (2 playthroughs)
  • Wonderful 101 (2 playthroughs)
  • Bayonetta 2 (2 playthroughs)
  • Final Fantasy X (2 playthroughs)

Final Fantasy X - one of my all time favourites and must have played it through 6/7 times over the years

@JaxonH I'm curious did you find it a chore at all to replay monster hunter games specifically?
While a unique experience I couldn't imagine myself grinding through all the village quests and guild ones, this isn't even counting charms which you would be spending even more time grinding to get back.

I don’t prize games that I don’t want to replay. Mario Odyssey for example is not a game I could replay. I have a better time playing a game that I’ve already gone through. I like coming back to the tactile feel of a game and the muscle memory of the movement. I know a lot of people are one and done because they like to get onto the next thing, but I do love a good replay.

-3D World/Land, and any sidescrolling Mario
-Kirby Triple Deluxe
-the 8, 16, 32-bit libraries are very replayable
-Mario Kart, Splatoon
-resistive touch games

I've played through Star Fox 64 more than 50 times so...obviously that one. The only one that comes even remotely close is Kirby's Adventure and only if you combine it with the GBA remake.

But in terms of games that aren't very short, Paper Mario.

Yes and no.

For MH World, my 2nd playthrough was on PC about a year after playing on PS4. And I didn’t mind it, actually I rather enjoyed it. I just didn’t focus on doing every single quest like I did on my first playthrough.

For Rise, I put 500 hrs in on Switch and completed every quest in the game. I wasn’t originally planning to do a second playthrough, but I bought the PC version just because I’m a fan and wanted it. Decided to Putz around and at least get my menus set up early game and edit my stickers and all that, and it led to starting to play it again, and now I’m kind of addicted all over again. But just like world, I won’t make it a point to do every single quest like I did on Switch.

As long as there’s a time gap, it’s fine. The games are just so fun to play.

I always like going back and playing games. If there's games I've played the most, definitely Sonic the Hedgehog, the original game. Played it way too many times between Dreamcast, GameCube, GBA, DS, 3DS, Wii, Sega Ages on Switch, mobile and on PC via Steam. I do enjoy it each time I play.

I would also say Star Fox 64. Played this one so many times over the years, is one of my favorites I love coming back to playing.

The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!

I'm trying to replay games less with my backlog getting bigger and bigger, but I'll still regularly go back to a lot of Mario, Zelda, and Metroid games. I'd say the ones I replay the most though are Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario World.

Long JRPGs are usually ones I don't replay unless I really love them, but a few I've gone through a second time include Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2, Persona 5, Baten Kaitos Origins, and Tales of Symphonia. I'll likely replay Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology again at some point in the future.

Other than that, I'll replay Harvest Moon-style games sometimes (like Stardew Valley, Rune Factory, and of course Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons), but I think that's more common in this genre.

Oh, another one I don't necessarily replay but still go back to for select parts of the game is the Danganronpa series. Sometimes I'll just listen to the class trials in the background while I'm working, I just find them entertaining to listen to.

I have no record of how much I've beaten Metroid Prime Hunters from Easter 2006 to Spring 2009 nor from mid-August 2016 to present. I was taking pictures of MPH with my DSi camera from the time of the DSi release up until mid-August 2016, a number of which were captures of the game's end screen. Scrolling through, I stopped counting at 125 end screens which was from Spring 2009 to a little into 2012.

Along with beating the game over 125 times, Hunters is usually one of my most played games on 3DS family systems yearly since the generation's launch. Checking my playtime records from my 3DS, 2DS and New 3DS XL, the most I've played Metroid Prime Hunters on 3DS generation systems so far was last year at 160 hours. It also is my most played game of 2021 overall. I could end up playing Hunters even more this year between in-game milestone goals and external fan art ideas I've been working on. Metroid Prime Hunters is my favorite game of all time.

My total playtime with MPH is around 2,000 hours and the next closest game is Animal Crossing: Wild World, which really isn't a game with defined end points. I don't actually know if it is my second most played as I usually play Wild World on my DSi, which doesn't record playtime. It just feels like I've played Wild World that long since Christmas Eve 2005.

We're pretty darn similar! I've played BiS at least five times; was my first ever RPG and still one of my favorites (but screw Challenge Node). The original Xenoblade is one of my favorite games of all time and I make a point to replay it almost every year.

@JaxonH
Just out of curiosity, what Monster Hunter game have you put the most hours into? MH4U was the first one to really click with me, but I ended up putting the most time into World when Iceborne came out.

MH from first excluding Rise since controls are awfull. Bayonetta 1-2, Resident Evil from 0 to 6 didn't like 7 or 8. And Pokemon from 1st till Moon don't like shield/sword Many more games but those are on top of my mind that i spent much time. Ah yes and Final Fantasy but don't know on which i spent more time than the other maybe Tactics but not sure.

Well, not counting games like NieR, where you're forced to replay the later half to get the entirety of the game's story, I believe one of my most replayed games was either Animal Crossing New Leaf, or Super Mario 3D World.

Interesting thread.

@I-U I love reading about your devotion to Metroid Prime Hunters, and seeing those raw numbers showing how much you still play it gives me warm feelings. Bravo.

Me personally though, my gaming style doesn't really lend itself to having any solid contributions for the thread. I very rarely start a game and finish it in the same... year even. I do like to keep 'in-progress' games on the back burner and rarely give up on a game, but I don't feel the compulsion to finish them before playing other things.

I guess ultimately I haven't been able to put enough hours in, and do often play the sort of games that don't really conform to the start-to-finish experience e.g. Mario Kart, Rocket League, FIFA, Football Manager, Art Academy, KORG, Animal Crossing. Plus a lot of my gaming time currently is with my kids, so I've played a lot of LEGO Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, Mario Party and Wii Party U, Super Mario 3D World, Wii Bowling etc.

But actual playthroughs...? Hmm.

Probably the most has to go to Super Cars 2 on the Amiga, which I haven't played for years but is a brilliant game. Bit even that has the caveat of me not having a complete copy - I only ever had the pirated version and not all courses would load, so it was a very short experience, but I played it plenty.

Ocarina of Time is a game I e got multiple save files of - a friend's N64 back in '99/'00, my own N64 more recently, 3DS x 2, Wii U virtual console, Switch NSO, but I have only actually reached the end once so far (so WTF am I even mentioning it!?)

Monkey Island 1 I'm sure I've finished at least twice.
