Topic: Donkey Kong's 45th Anniversary

July 1981 was when the world would be bestowed with what may possibly be one of most important games Nintendo has ever released: the original arcade Donkey Kong, kickstarting a franchise that would take the world by storm and setting the stage for a century old playing card company's rise to fame in the games industry.

Next year, July 2026 will mark 45 years since the prime primate's debut, and given Nintendo's been making great efforts to push him as a major franchise again, with a big new 3D game(and possibly more in the future), the big theme park attraction and the rumored movie, I figured it wouldn't hurt to speculate on what could be done to celebrate the big ape's big 4-5. I know they're most likely gonna push Zelda's anniversary more since that's a bit higher on the totem pole, but hey, I can dream alright?

Here are some ideas of what they could announce within the celebration period:

• A confirmation on the DK movie. Not like a big trailer, just confirming it's in production or something.
• In terms of games it's unrealistic to expect the announcement for the next 3D DK game, but I imagine they'll still have some game announcements, like:
• DK on NSO: We're still missing Jungle Beat, King of Swing and 64(among others), so what better time to announce them?
• A reveal of the next Country game, possibly developed by EPD10(the 2D Mario team)
• Spinoff games! Maybe not RPGs or sports games, but something like King of Swing or Mario vs. Donkey Kong. Even a new Donkey Konga would be welcome.

oooh, i forgot his anniversary was next year! i understand they probably arent gonna overshadow zelda by a lot, but i agree with @N00BiSH, i think there will be a confirmation on a movie/short series about him, probably slated for 28. i could see them releasing 64 for sure, since it kinda got leaked. also hope for the Mario. Kart. World. Donkey. Kong. D. L. C. finalllllyyyyy coming out. i need more content!
other than that though, theyre probably just gonna release a banandium gem line of necklaces and rings with a famous jeweler and come out with more of the donkey kong plushes 😔

*45th Anniversary
Not the biggest milestone (compared to 40th and 50th, at least). And considering we just had Bananza, there isn't really much to expect during this time other than maybe news on the movie and more games coming to NSO.

I would check my math again 2026 -1981 is 45 not 40.

@N00BiSH I have an overactive imagination, so when you mentioned RPG, I immediately and vividly pictured a Donkey Kong RPG in the style of the Super Mario RPG remake and now I'm devastated that it doesn't exist, haha. If we're making predictions for the anniversary, that's in my "Impossible Dream" category. Always gotta have one or two of those.
