Topic: Paper Mario vs. Mario and Luigi

Because of all the controversy I've heard about which is better, I decided to make a topic where people can argue which is their favorite. So here is the question: Do you like the Paper Mario series or the Mario and Luigi series better? I prefer Mario and Luigi because of better story lines, better humor, and in my opinion, just better controls overall. But thats just me.

Which do you like better?

I'm going to go with Mario & Luigi. Battle system is fun, the games are hlarious and just more fun to play overall.

That's not taking anything away from Paper Mario, though. They are great games, too. And you have to love the visual style of the game as well.

I prefer Mario & Luigi probs. Although they're both great games, and can't wait for both to make a return on 3DS!

I prefer Paper Mario. Thousand Year Door is still one of my all-time favorites. I found Paper Mario to be a deeper game than Mario & Luigi, and to have a ton more replay value (100 trials can be extremely daunting). I find the story and writing of both to be hilarious.

I like them both equally. Though I'll have to go with Mario & Luigi since I think all of the games in that series have been amazing. Super Paper Mario was a bit of a disappointment.

I think the series are equally as good, with the paper mario series being just a bit better. TTYD was my favorite game of all time, but Partners in time was amazing also. Super paper mario was somewhat disappointing, but it was still a very fun game. Bowser's Inside Story was superior. SuperStar Saga was equal tp the original Paper Mario. That all pans out to the series being equal.

I prefer Super Mario RPG.

Both are good series, but I think I like paper mario a bit better, I even liked super paper mario.
Oh and I still remember that scene early in the game in paper mario thousand year door, where that guy gets mugged in the background, I still laugh about it to this day.

i say paper mario is a bit better because me i like rpg anyway and it last longer than m&l because he take longer and u have to l;ook around for many objects but that just my opinion

Um, BIS is one of my favorite games of all time, I don't own PiT and haven't played much of SS, so...

What I've played of Paper N64 is pretty great from what I remember, TTYD is a bona fide classic, and Super is one of the Wii's best.

Based on what I've played of both series so far, I'm gonna have to go with Paper Mario for now.

Paper Mario. I felt the humor in the Mario and Luigi sequels wasn't funny for the most part and the 2nd game in general felt pretty uninspired and Mass Effect without the sidequests levels of linear. Still a good game but it was pretty much just an inferior version of the first game with more buttons used in battle and a 2nd screen (and the lame Bro items too). Not to mention Baby Peach's painful crying that makes the game awkward to play in a public place.

It might be close if not for that but even if it was as good as the first game, I'd still give it to Paper Mario. Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story are great games. But, Paper Mario is one of my top 5 favorite games, the sequel is great and Super Paper Mario is not only the funniest game Nintendo's ever made and one of the most clever genre changes for a sequel I've seen, but probably the most creative Mario game since 64. The 2nd game was my least favorite but even that had the best story in a Mario game ever (which might not be saying much but ok) and the first 2 games have some of my favorite soundtracks ever.

I hate Super Paper Mario ... I still had more fun with it than a single Mario & Luigi game. The choice here is clear: Paper Mario.

Honestly, both series are great and I'm glad they're different enough. It's just that I find PM games more fun and charming. The PM trilogy is one of my favorite gaming trilogies ever, I'm really looking forward to Paper Mario 3DS. Also, since we'll have our first handheld Paper Mario, wouldn't it be interesting if they revealed a new M&L for Wii U?
