I recently got myself well into Dragon Quest IX, and loving it (I have previously played Dragon Quest VIII and loved it). So, I would like to know the upcoming Gold Sun game on the DS, it is going to traditional like DQ IX? Thanks for the info.
GameSpot's article in June said Nintendo wasn't revealing any details about game play mechanics. GameSpot's latest mention in their "PAX Daily Wrap Up Day Two" video was, "It was really cool." So, uh, not a lot of detail. No video of the game otherwise I'd link to it.
So, basically, we've got no clue yet whether it'll be turn-based or not.
If previous games in the series (and Camelot's record as a developer) are any indication, it'll be fairly traditional, with a few new gameplay twists and a wealth of Zelda-style puzzles.
Honestly I think it could be the best RPG on the DS, a system just flooded with them.
no i am not biased

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
I don't know who this @PhoenixAran* person is, but if s/he is anything like PheonixSage/Farron/Strife/whatever-current-obsession-is-today, than I would say that anything s/he says about GS will be biased.
Actually, considering how the first 2 Golden Suns were supposed to be 1 game yet still on their own are some of the best JRPGs in the past decade (and probably ever), imagine how long and awesome this game could be.
So being the best RPG on DS (even with Chrono Trigger on there) doesn't seem to be TOO much of a stretch.
Chrono Trigger is awesome, I love that game. While that's a classic and I do own it, I do like the openness of Dragon Quest IX though. But hearing from all you guys, looks like I will be picking up Golden Sun for the DS when it comes out.
At the risk of being beaten by Feenie, i have to admit i've never played a Golden Sun game. Any reccomendations on which would be a good one to start with?
Call me crazy but I have a feeling GS:DD will hold it's own against DQIX and CT
@sphydar: If you can start from the beginning, do so. GS and GS:TLA are meant to be played together in order. Otherwise... damn can't say for sure, but Dark Dawn will probably stand fine on it's own

Agreed. I'm more excited for this then any other RPG for the system. The amount of content is balanced with puzzles and fighting. It's somewhat different then dq9. I have dq9 and am getting etrain odyssey 3 but this is the one I really want. In my opinion it will be the best of the lot.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.

I just finished re-playing first Golden Sun yesterday. Now I only have 5 weeks left to finish Lost Age... it's making waiting for Dark Dawn even more exciting!!!
The first half of the first Golden Sun kind of drags (especially if you've already played it multiple times). This time through, it took me forever to get to a point where I would look forward to continuing my adventure in my free time, but it was rewarding after that point. For some reason I barely remember the second one at all, though, so it's WAY more fun to re-play than the first.
I finally said 'oh whatever' and pre-ordered my copy.
