Well considering the first thing people think of when they think of the DSi is "It has a camera", It's more likely developers would focus on that rather than the improved processing power.
Plus, graphics aren't ALWAYS the sign of a good game... There are plenty of good games out there that aren't breathtakingly good looking. (Scribblenauts, Pokemon, etc.) Also, good graphics can depend on what the person thinks about the art style as well. In my opinoin, Phoenix Wright has great graphics, even though it's just a bunch of sprites placed in front of backgrounds. Their actions as well as their creative quirks overshadow the fact that they all remain stationary all the time.

Also I'm quite fond of how DS games tend to look, all sorts of pretty colourful sprites, and good art direction. For the most part the 3D games are the uglier games on the DS. Kingdom Hearts ended up looking impressive though
A game could look awesome in graphics but the controls or missions or whatever could be horrible but its cool to have games with good graphics and gameplay
