Topic: Smash Bros Amiibo in Mario Party 10

I'm fairly new to Amiibo and only have the Smash Bros Mario Amiibo that came bundled with the game I was wondering if this Amiibo will unlock the bonus board on Mario Party 10 or do I need one of the the newer Amiibo?

Both the old and new version of Mario will unlock the "extra" board.
