Okay, so right now we only have 3 games with confirmed amiibo functionality, Smash Bros., Hyrule Warriors, and Mario Kart 8. We know that in Smash, the amiibos will show up as a CPU character that can fight in game and increase its stats as you use it. In Hyrule Warriors amiibos will unlock new weapons, rupees, and crafting materials. And then in Mario Kart 8 amiibos will unlock a character themed Mii suit. We know that there are more games that will use amiibo and there's probably more on the way, so what do you think other games could use amiibo for?
I'll say this, aside from Hyrule Warriors, I'm not really impressed with how amiibos are used in the gameplay, they don't really add anything interesting. In Smash they basically play the game for you and in Mario Kart 8 they're fairly pointless and redundant (why would I want a Mii themed costume for a character when I can use the real thing in the game?). They need more amiibos that unlock actual bonus content, something that isn't altogether necessary in the game but is neat enough to justify the cost.
I have a feeling the fire emblem amiibos will be used in SMT X FE, but i can only guess on what it may give you maybe weapons, armor, or maybe even demons in the game who knows.

Well here goes:
Captain Toad: Will unlock special puzzles representing different amiibos. Each puzzle will be shaped to look like the 8-bit or 16-bit version of that character. For example, Mario unlocks a stage that looks like a giant 8-bit Mario platform. Every character with an old-school game will be used. (So no new gen Pokémon, Shulk, Rosalina, Wii Fit Trainer, etc.)
Yoshi's Wooly World: Will unlock little yarn versions of select characters that will assist you while playing. (similar to FP in Smash) These characters cannot be upgraded like in smash, so you will not have to erase any amiibo save data. Only VERY popular main characters will be used. Basically the ones in Mario Kart 8, minus Captain Falcon, but add in Pikachu.
Mario Party 10: Special Amiibo game mode. You can team up with ANY Mario series amiibo, and other select amiibos to play minigames with them. This is a read and write amiibo game, so they will learn things, and you will have to delete save data to make room for this game. That is why Nintendo may be releasing separate Mario Party figures.
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Unlocks costumes and items based on certain amiibo.
Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

Pretty sure that in Xenoblade they're going to unlock armor sets based off that Ambiio. Like how if you sad save data in Mass Efffect or Dragon Age you got suits of armor in the other game.
WAT!
Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.
I am hoping Captain Toad will use lots of the Amiibos. I also hope the useage in them is that Captain Toad gains a special power-up depending on which Amiibo you scan. That could be very cool use for it. Imagine if you scan a Mario figure you get to throw fireballs. Scan Captain Falcon you can do a Falcon Punch. Scan Shulk get the power to rewind time (as if he is seeing the future). It could make some unique gameplay. But it probably won't be that
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
Unfortunately I think every game other than Smash will just use them to unlock on-disc content that would have just been available if amiibos didn't exist.
I love amiibos, they look great but I think this is all they'll be used for unfortunately...
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Seeing how the Amiibos don't carry the functionality data on them that is technically true (even for Smash)

True. So the entire concept is skewed in their favor from the start, then.
At least we get cool figurines out of it. Seriously when was the last time you saw Captain Falcon merchandise
