So with the recent swelling of Amiibos available I.e Smash Bros/ Smash Bros Ultimate & Breath of The Wild amongst others, does anyone know where to get Amiibo NFC readers for 3DS? I finally bought a couple (Zero Suit Samus and Splatoon’s Marina Ida) for my Super Smash Bros on 3DSXL but since it’s pre- New 3DS ,the built in reader/writer isn’t there and am forced to get the external accessory for it.

Buy the NFC reader for Old 3DS from Ebay or playasia or any Online shopping website and scan your Amiibos onto it.
You need 2 AA batteries to activate the NFC reader.
@Anti-matter and @SwitchForceThanks for your replies, sorry for the lateness of mine. In the end I ended up getting a New 3DSXL because in November last year the hinge of my 3DSXL was broken so wanted to do a system software transfer ASAP in case Nintendo pulled the plug on the online connectivity anytime soon (as was the major worry at the time).
