The Toys R Us I buy majority of my DI and Amiibo figures have had the Amiibo Kongs for awhile. I am not overly interested in them but that mainly comes from the Mario Party Donkey Kong amiibo we saw rumors for. I enjoy the DK games but his Amiibo looks weird to me. Should I wait to see if a different DK amiibo is ever released or go ahead and buy the Smash ones?

I had the exact same reaction to his amiibo. It does look a little beter in person though, but I'm waiting for a new version myself. I seriously doubt we'd have to wait even a year for a new DK amiibo.

The Japanese amiibos will still work on an American console, right? I want to preorder one of those Yarn Yoshi amiibos.

Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword

@Pokefanmum82: Amiibo are not region locked. Your Wiiu won't know the difference.

Those of you who have imported amiibo from Japan, what has been your experience? Are the unicorns easier to find? How do the prices compare?

What's the Ness amiibos level of quality?? Worth getting?? I'm thinking him and Lucas would make great additions to my collection.

I'd say that Ness is great quality. He looks nice all around. The details are all there, and looks very appealing. I have other Amiibo's to compare him with, and I think he's one of the best quality-wise. I would recommend getting him and Lucas, if you can. Hope this helps.

I buy based on functionality, but they are nice to have.

I don't have any that I can't use or potentially wouldn't hope to be able to use.

I bought mine for Planet Robobot, so that I can play through the game multiple times using a different move set each time.

The only amiibo I'd probably buy purely to enjoy looking at and displaying would be the Planet Robobot mech bosses, if they made them...but then, at this point, I'm kind of a Kirby fan, so if they made them for a Robobot sequel, I'd want them anyway.

Buy for the functionality or because you like the character, or just because you like the particular figure. They're all very well made and all look really good (apart from some of the poses are a bit goofy (e.g. Captain Falcon)).

Is Amiiqo or N2 Elite safe to buy for playing amiibos?

Cantisque

What would you say would be the top few to get in terms of game compatibility right now?

Also, if there are multiple versions of the same character, do they all function the same? (for example, would all Isabelle amiibo versions, cards included, work the same for something like Miitopia?)

Zyrac

@Cantisque Whether there's a difference between versions of a character depends on the game. New Leaf, for example, will put Isabelle in the appropriate outfit for the amiibo used, and gives different rewards for figures and cards. Other games may not care about such distinctions; in some cases even Mario and Dr. Mario or Link and Toon Link will be treated as the same character. Not familiar with how Miitopia handles it.

So some games may know it's Luigi, for example, even if it's not the Smash Luigi and give you the Luigi-themed content anyway? That's good to know

Cantisque

Zyrac

@Cantisque That particular case is definitely nothing to worry about; there's very rarely any distinction between Smash and non-Smash versions of a character. Even Smash itself will work with both.

Add to that collectors value for Collectors as well. I have every one of the Amiibo including the Monster 3DS Amiibo from JPN-except Cuby. And preordered the latest upcoming Amiibos. Also to me Amiibos are unique onto themselves as no other gaming system has them.

So with the Pokemon Trainer Amiibo coming can we expect a "Player 2" version for those that want the female Trainer? If that happens then can we also have the female Robin Amiibo and Villager as well?

At least this is my prediction for this year.

@usama9 get what? You give no logic for anyone to help with unless this is just TROLLing.

@usama9 get that one because this one isn’t compatible with most games.
