I can't decide whether I should get the New 3DS or the xl version of it, where I live the New 3ds cost $219 while the xl cost $249. I can hold a normal 3ds really well with big hands and it feels good and I have held a demo New 3DS xl at a game shop and it still feels good. I saw the 3D on the original and the xl and the xl's 3d looked better, but I dont know about the New 3DS normal size having better 3D, the screens are slightly larger on the New 3DS than the original 3DS. I do like customizing my stuff and I like the idea of putting other faceplates on the New 3DS. If I buy the New 3DS I would have more money to buy games but if I buy a New 3DS xl, I get a copy of an Art Academy game with it. Please help me decide

The smaller has better display, as it is crisper and has higher pixel density, it's comfortable and lighter even for big hands, it is slightly bigger and has bigger screens than the original 3DS, and has the best speakers in the 3DS family. On top of that, it's cheaper and you can change the cover plates. I had the 3DS XL for two years (almost same size and exactly same screens than New XL) and I don't miss a single thing about it when playing on my New 3DS. Actually, I can play longer because it's lighter and more comfortable, and the screens and speakers are better.

I really don't like the navigation bar of Nintendo Life continuously reappearing while browsing!!

Completely agree with the above poster. I can't speak much for the New 3DS XL, but I've recently picked up the New 3DS after having the 3DS XL for almost 3 years, and I'd say you really can't go wrong with it. The screen is a good size and some games (particularly DS games e.g. Pokemon Platinum) look better on the smaller screen due to the higher pixel density. I've always been a fan of the 3D but it has indeed improved on the New 3DS, and the sound quality is excellent. Cover plates and the SNES-style coloured buttons are also an aesthetic bonus. Definitely recommended.

At least 2'8".

If you like the bigger screen get the XL, otherwise just get the normal N3DS. The XL screen doesn't make games, even DS ones, look bad, so it's not really a downside.

As I love the colour white I got the ambassador new 3ds which stopped me getting an xl which is an awesome device for what everyone else is saying, then the animal crossing limited edition one came out and it looked awesome as I love animal crossing and the inside were white so it was a perfect fit! One things to say is that if you put DS games in their native resolution on the xl it's a normal size while on the smaller middle it's too small go really enjoy. Personally I think some games work best on one or the other like smash on the xl as you need a big screen to see what's going on but super Mario 3d land on the smaller model as it looks perfect on it this is coming from a guy who has both

We can't be 100% sure it is/contains a handheld, but even if it is/does it's not guaranteed it will play DS and 3DS games...

but so far every nintendo handheld had backwards compatibility for the lastgen handheld

But it is looking like this might be hybrid, not just a handheld. And if the NX handheld unit doesn't have a 3D screen some of the magic of the 3DS experience is gone too, people who missed out might as well buy a 2DS then which might be close to 50 dollars/pounds/euro's late next year/2017.
