Well Recently I've been playing more DS games on the good old 3DS and have noticed something strange...
It seems that the DS titles cause the screens (either one that is being used the majority of the time) to flicker faintly every now and then. I didn't really pay it much mind before but now it's getting quite irritating when playing long sessions in Pokemon black. Th most notable times are when dialogue is present. So what I was wondering is, has anyone else come across this? Was it normal on the DS? I just don't want to send it off to Nintendo and wait 3 to 5 weeks to get it back again. -_-
I have not noticed this before... you might try searching for this problem on Google if you haven't already to see if there's anyone else who's had a problem like this.
I've noticed what the prior poster said: The screen dims briefly in power-save mode. Like in Animal Crossing, whenever I enter Nook's or Able Sisters, as soon as the welcome dialogue appears, it happens. I presume it's because of power saving.
It could be that since I have not experienced that problem. Yet I never use the power saving feature as most of the time my 3DS is hooked to an outlet.
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
I think power Save mode changes the screen's brightness depending on what is on the screen - brighter colours don't need as much light. I don't use it myself, but I imagine that if what is on screen is changing then the screen's brightness could change with it, creating the flickering you were seeing.
Oh, just to put this out there, Nintendo usually has repairs done in a week, I've had to send mine in before, and I was under warranty so it was free, PLUS they gave me an extra year on the warranty.
I also have noticed some flickering in the form of black stripes sometimes while playing previous gen DS games on my 3DS. Turning off the power save does seem to help so far!
Only time I notice flickering in DS games in general was that deal in Bowser's Inside Story, lol. I think its the system itself, just got off of Pokemon Black on my 3DS and never noticed any problems. (besides the obvious resolution thing, but whatever, lol)
