Dahak commented on Japanese Virtual Console List - January 2008:
I only really want Mappy (which was Famicom only, so it would have to be an "import") and maybe Phantasy Star II off this list.

Very cool game, a Neo-Geo game that non-fans would probably like. As mentioned, great graphics (on par with Metal Slug) and a bizarre soundtrack that almost sounds like Gentle Giant.

My first non-pack in NES game (after SMB, Duck Hunt and Gyromite). I'm looking forward to this.

I doubt that you'll be able to use the Wii Remote as a pointing device for this game, as the Genesis didn't use a mouse or light gun for this title. If the SNES version of Eye of the Beholder ever sees VC release, I would think that would make use of it (the original used the SNES mouse).

Dragon's Curse was never released in Europe? Does that make this the first out of region release on the VC?

Dahak commented on US VC Releases - 26th March - RoTK IV:
They probably should have saved this for April 9th when SPM comes out for the Wii proper, as there would probably be little concern about one VC title for that week. Personally, I would have been happy if NES Castlevania has made it out stateside today.

I wouldn't respond too harshly to the ROM comments (provided he doesn't start posting links anyway). Keep in mind that if it wasn't for the popularity of "underground" emulation in the first place, concepts like the Virtual Console would have never been implemented. Me -- I still have roms, I'll admit. But I'm glad to finally be able to support the rights holder and buy them legally and enjoy them on a Nintendo console where they belong.

"The early 90s days of Nintendo Vs Sega Vs NEC are over - we can all be mature enough to call a good game a good game no matter what system it is on."

Agreed. And this was a strong week for VC releases in the US. Besides, we should save our immaturity for making fun of the crappy releases on Xbox Live Arcade and PS Network.
