I'd like to point out that Monster Hunter always had a lot of these free dlcs, they used to be mostly anime crossovers but now that the main series is a Nintendo exclusive, it's both in Capcom and Nintendo best interests to make some stuff like this to appeal to as many players as possible, as it's one of the best selling series in Japan but still has to grow in the West. Also, while many of these dlcs had to stay in Japan in the past because of licensing issues, with Nintendo characters they can easily have them in the western versions. Anyway yeah, i don't think it can be considered "charity" on Nintendo's side since it's one of the most valuable IPs in Japan and it's a game distributed by Nintendo in Europe and Australia, Nintendo can make a lot of money with MH4U and they're rightfully working with Capcom to make it happen.
