I'd absolutely love to have a remastered selection of some Mario games for the 35th anniversary so at the bottom of me I'm hoping there is some truth in this! We can't let Super Mario's 35th go by without some form of celebration (he's the same age as me!) Although I know 'Jumpman' is 4 years older.
@johnvboy They definitely do have a potential massive audience, myself being one of them. To me, it seems such a shame that some great games have been kind of left to languish on the unpopularity of the Wii U. After having watched videos on YouTube and read topics on this forum, I know there were some excellent games on the Wii U but because of the negativity the Wii U got, these games have not achieved the potential they deserve.
I do think it would be good to re-release them on the Switch, for the new audience, the audience who missed out due to not liking the Wii U and in some cases, the hardcore gamers who might possibly have their interest piqued by some additional content or something that would make them want to play the game again.
The potential is there for Nintendo to make good on games that have sadly fallen by the wayside somewhat due to an unpopular console release.
I can understand people who have bought these re-released games previously for the Wii U being disappointed and a bit peeved that they're not getting any new games.
However, having said that, for me these kind of releases are very welcome. For all I owned a Wii U all I ever got it for was Wii Fit U. I never ventured into any other games so all of these ports to the Switch is really exciting for the likes of me who has never played games like Zelda, Pikmin, Mario etc until the last year or so.
I know a lot of people will be thinking I'm strange for never having played such huge titles but better late than never I suppose! I adore the Mario series and also the Zelda series. So re-released games would be an absolute bonus for the likes of me. I still have both my Wii and Wii U and have bought Galaxy 1 & 2 as well as 3D World for them but to be honest I don't like playing on those consoles now. I much prefer the look and feel of my Switch. If I'd played the games on the original consoles first I'd likely not have noticed but going from the Switch back to the old consoles is not enjoyable in my opinion. I hate the controls for Galaxy.
So whilst I can see both sides of the argument here for these ports, they are really very welcome to me, I'd really love to see the other Zelda and Mario games ported to Switch and the Pikmin one looks good too.
I have so many games to finish now and so little time!!
