@tbaren I'm interested in hearing what you would consider a spin off being.
These are not replacing the main series, they are spin offs, and that's that. New leaf was released in 2013, only two years ago, and people are expecting them to have a new main, fully fledged game already? Pretty ridiculous if you ask me.
There were roughly 4 years between each new animal crossing game, so I expect we will have another main game in a couple of years.
