@SwitchForce @Astral-Grain People are Comparing it to breath of the wild because all of the the games marketing made it look like it was going to be like breath of the wild.
@JakedaArbok The originals probably aren't that much better, they are just less slightly "disappointing". I am honestly scared to go back and play some of the older games(even just from the 3DS) nowadays because they wouldn't be able to hold my attention very long. Too many other interesting games outside of the pokemon franchise to play and experience.
This will probably still be the best pokemon game even if it's deeply flawed. The combat being as seamless is a really big deal as it adds a level of immersion not seen in any of the main line pokemon games ever before. Finally, pokemon battles will really take place in a real and tangible environment instead of the voids or battlefield arenas that just manifest whenever a battle happens.
@Skunkfish if you are playing through it with your son, then it would probably be fine. The reason why pokemon Sword/Shield is controversial is mainly because of a decision to cut certain pokemon from the game because of the developers wanting more time to work on "new" animations which were actually not new at all.
