If you'd like to see more of Helix in action, take a look at the official trailer video below. The video shows exactly how the game is played and gives a..
A few weeks ago we interviewed High Voltage Software about their upcoming WiiWare game Animals de la Muerte. Whilst it was a very informative interview, we forgot to ask one crucial question! What are the controls like on this game?
Kindly Micah Skaritka at HVS has set the record straight on the controls once and for all. It actually sounds like a pretty good system. Wiimote pointing is fun for a..
WiiWare, much like Virtual Console, is turning into a heaven for shoot 'em up fans. Konami today announced that it's going to resurrect the Gradius franchise on the service with Gradius Rebirth (A fitting name)!
Last seen in 2004 on the PlayStation 2, Gradius really needs no introduction to most gamers, as it's one of the most popular shoot 'em up series of all time, due to being one of the first..
We received a rather interesting press release today about the upcoming fish tank simulation for WiiWare called My Aquarium by Hudson. It seems the original name of Blue Oasis for North America has now been dropped so it’s got the same name as Europe thankfully.
We’re not sure what to make of this “game” but we’re sure it will interest some as a sort of glorified screensaver for the Wii..
Japanese magazine Famitsu has put up some new screenshots of the rather tasty looking Alien Crush Returns. Check it out Google’s translation of the page for yourselves.
Here are the interesting details which we noted: Features Reverse Ball - allows you to instantly send the ball back the way it was moving. Split Ball – lets your ball split into two for a limited time for increased scoring..
Soon our North American friends will be able to stuff their faces on a virtual feast as Major League Eating: The Game is up on WiiWare this coming Monday.
At first we were a bit dismissive of this game, but it actually seems to be shaping up to look like it could be a half decent game. Heck it’s even got online play and leaderboards. It certainly appears to be in a different league from offenders..

If you’re getting all hot and bothered about Capcom’s forthcoming retro-fest Mega Man 9 then this short video (below) should send you into seventh heaven.
The visuals look great, it’s like 1987 all over again, the gameplay looks tight and the music is beyond awesome. It goes without saying that this is one of the titles we're looking forward too most here at WiiWare World. Mega Man 9 is due..
In case you hadn’t noticed, we’re getting quite excited about Capcom’s upcoming retro-themed update Mega Man 9. But when is it out, I hear you cry?
While we can’t answer that question as far as a Western release is concerned, thanks to information contained with the pages of Famitsu magazine (pictured below), we know that the game will be available in Japan this September. Naturally it..
Have you been waiting patiently for Bplus’ intriguing Plättchen: Twist and Paint? Well that wait is almost over because the company has exclusively confirmed to us that the game should be released in the North American WiiWare store in the 3rd week of July. This may be subject to change however.
A weird and wonderful combination of puzzle and shooting, Plättchen has been in development for what..
A strange new OFLC rating popped up today - Maboshi: The Three Shape Arcade was no title we had ever heard of before! However, doing some searching, we came to the conclusion that this had to be the WiiWare title Katachi no Game: Maru Bou Shikaku (Game of Shapes: Ball, Stick, Square), which was announced for Japan a few months ago but has not been released so far.
We're still not quite sure what..
You know the feeling. You sit waiting patiently for a quality piece of software on WiiWare that isn’t a rehashed budget PS2 title and then when one finally appears, the wind is taken out of your sails by the news that it’s also coming out on XBLA and Playstation Network.
That’s exactly what appeared to happen when Mega Man 9 was announced a few days ago. Initially confirmed for WiiWare..
Just a few short days ago we posted a story that seemed to confirm that the highly anticipated WiiWare title Eternity’s Child was not planned for release in North America. This news came from the game’s creator Luc Bernard and was followed by the sound of wailing and the gnashing of teeth.
However, in a bizarre twist to this tale, we’ve since been contacted by the publishers of the WiiWare..
After yesterday’s shock news regarding the distribution of World of Goo, we’ve been informed by Luc Bernard that to the best of his knowledge, Eternity’s Child is currently only coming out in Europe on WiiWare.
The game is being published by UK company Alten8 and Bernard has confirmed that although he's been kept informed about the upcoming Euro release, he's not been told anything about..
Time to rejoice! As you might remember, a while ago we mentioned that Mega Man 9 had received an OFLC rating. We did not know the platform at the time, but speculated it could very well be a WiiWare release due to Capcom's traditionally strong support of Nintendo. The upcoming issue of Nintendo Power confirms our suspicions - Mega Man 9 is indeed heading to WiiWare.
According to an interview in the..
Whilst browsing NoE’s summer 2008 release schedule we were intrigued to find “World of Goo (RTL Playtainment) - Q3 2008” on that list. After all isn’t World of Goo supposed to be a WiiWare game?
Questioning our own sanity, we contacted our old chum Ron Carmel at 2D Boy and found out what was going on. Here’s what he told us: Our European...

There are a few more details on their WiiWare plans now as you can read in their interview with Cubed³. The..
Taito's Space Invaders is making a comeback on WiiWare! In Space Invaders: Get Even you will, in a reversal of roles, play as the space invaders themselves as you take on the Earth!

With the anticipation level building for the upcoming WiiWare title Pirates: The Key of Dreams, we decided to check in with Phil Merricks, Project Manager at Oxygen Games to find out a little more information about the game. Phil was kind enough to answer a few of our questions and you can find out what he had to tell WiiWare World in this exclusive interview.
WiiWare World: How long has Pirates:..
A mysterious video entitled "Wii Move - Balance Board Innovation" appeared on YouTube recently. The video shows nothing more than a computerised woman running with a clock frantically ticking in the background. The visuals seem to be a rather similar style to the trainers in Wii Fit. Could this trailer just be trying to raise enthusiasm for another workout game, or is it something more?
Eternity's Child has traveled a long and troubled road to get to where it currently resides as an upcoming Nintendo WiiWare release. Loosely based on a mobile phone game, it actually started development as an Xbox Live Arcade title, but after a was later moved over to Nintendo's DS and Wii systems. Not long after that the DS version was cancelled and the game was officially announced for release on Nintendo's new WiiWare service. The game is probably best known for its unique art style - no surprise considering it's the product of eccentric Anglo-French artist and independent game designer Luc Bernard.
Blue Oasis (Hudson's virtual aquarium) official site has opened. You can see the promotional trailer below.
Details from the site : Customize your tank from scratch, including the glass, the scenery, the lighting, and the type of fishes that will populate it. You can choose among 40 species of fishes, and create 6 different tanks No advanced technical knowledge required, as there is no..
There is no doubt that the upcoming World of Goo is one of the better looking games coming to the WiiWare service. Back in May when we interviewed David Braben on LostWinds you can see even he is bowled over by the looks of this game. Which makes sense because LostWinds also looks stunning and has great art direction.
So who is the genius behind the artwork in World of Goo? None other than 2D..
A Japanese games company called Yudo recently announced that they're planning on releasing a music rhythm game for WiiWare. Aero Guitar will be similar to games such as Guitar Hero and Dancing Stage/Dance Dance Revolution, making you try to hit beat markers at the correct times using the Wiimote as a virtual instrument.
For now, it's unknown if there will be multiplayer, but we think it would be a..

Way back in 2001, speculation begin circulating through the gaming world that newcomer developer WayForward Technologies were developing a Game Boy Color game that would stretch the system's hardware capabilities to their limits.
The game, called Shantae, was said to feature some of the most advanced animation techniques ever seen on a portable game system. Anticipation for the title began..
A week or so ago we noticed that Helix got a rating from the ESRB so we have been getting an eye on the game’s progress with interest. We don’t know much about Texas based Ghostfire Games who are developing this innovative music rhythm game for WiiWare, but we have to say it does look quite interesting.
You can now get your first look at the game in action finally as Ghostfire have been so kind..
I recently caught up with the guys from 2D Boy, the creators of World of Goo, which is one of the more interesting and original games coming to WiiWare to see how it was all going. Our regular readers may remember that way back in February we playtested a early build of World of Goo and the first impressions were excellent. If you think of Tim Burton’s art style mixed with the gameplay of Lemmings and Loco Roco then you won’t be far off the mark.
Anyway, we are all interested to know when we can expect to see this promising game on WiiWare. Sadly the answer is not for a little while yet. Their aim is to finish development on the Wor..
Luc Bernard has been a busy chap lately. In addition to putting the final touches to the upcoming WiiWare title Eternity’s Child, he has also revealed that he has another game in the pipeworks called Rose Princess which is destined for WiiWare, if a publisher can be found.

When you hear the word 'Potpourrii' you may picture that bowl of perfumed wood shavings your mum has in her bathroom, but for WiiWare gamers the word is about to be given an entirely different meaning thanks to Dutch developer Abstraction Games.
Production on the company’s debut WiiWare title is now drawing to a close and MD Ralph Egas has kindly granted us a sneaky peak at this intriguing title..
Ghostfire games has just revealed new screenshots for its upcoming WiiWare title Helix.

GameLoft, who you might know as the company bringing their mobile game Block Breaker Deluxe to WiiWare, is bringing three more games to the service. Two of these are also mobile phone ports, but one of them is a new game.
The PEGI has rated Midnight Bowling, which we assume will be the first title to see release in Europe. It will be a slightly...
Since we first heard that Dr. Mario was coming to WiiWare there have been a few different western names for the game circulating on the net such as Dr. Mario's Virus Buster and Dr. Mario & Bacteria Extermination, both likely direct translations of the Japanese title, Dr. Mario & Saikin Bokumetsu.
Having checked out the new Nintendo Channel...
Dutch developer Two Tribes today released some new screens for Toki Tori, their upcoming WiiWare game. As you might know, it appears to be a remake of their original Game Boy Color game of the same name.
The game is a platformer/puzzler hybrid, combining quick reactions with smart thinking. It was originally released at the end of the GBC's life (In...
In a completely random announcement today, Ubisoft has revealed they are bringing the 2005 PC game Protöthea to WiiWare. The game is a shooter, but doesn't really stand out too much.
The WiiWare release will include extra features and things to do, and apparently will be released on WiiWare's launch day for 1000 Wii Points. Ubisoft's James Regan told IGN: Ubisoft is excited to bring Protöthea..
Nnooo's Nic Watt has admitted that he still isn’t 100% sure how much to charge for his company’s promising looking WiiWare title Pop.
Speaking in an interview this week, Watt said: For a new company like ourselves, pricing is a really tough issue particularly on something like a downloadable service where there are games at a variety of prices. Disc-based games are somewhat easier as they all..
Developer High Voltage is clearly putting all its weight behind Nintendo’s new WiiWare service with Animales de la Muerte (Animals of the Dead) being the company’s second announcement for the new service in the space of a week, following the rather neat looking Gyrostarr.
Animales de la Muerte takes place in a Mexican Zoo. When the animals begin...
About a week ago, the relatively unknown developer High Voltage Software revealed a Wii game called The Conduit, which is looking surprisingly good for such a small company. That's not all though, they're also working on a WiiWare game. High Voltage exclusively told IGN they're making Gyrostarr.
Gyrostarr seems to feature four ships competing to defeat enemies and collect enough energy to open a..
Canadian developer Big Blue Bubble recently announced that it's developing a WiiWare game called Home Sweet Home. This game looks to be some sort of mix of The Sims and Habbo Hotel, which I'm sure most of you know. A date and price are still unknown, but there are some screens you can look at on the Home Sweet Home WiiWare game profile page.
The full press release is as follows: Home Sweet Home is..
You might've already seen it on the WiiWare game page a while ago - Toki Tori was a game released on the Game Boy Color at the very end of its life - 2001, to be exact. The game looked quite amazing for the little system, almost on par with the new Game Boy Advance, and featured some stunningly addictive gameplay. It also had a pretty addictive soundtrack.
Dutch developer Two Tribes has now officially announced that Toki Tori is indeed coming to WiiWare. Whether it's a remake, sequel or combination of both is still up in the air (Although some of the levels seen so far were in the original), but the game is looking quite great and t...
Telltale Games, developers of the excellent Sam 'n Max series, have announced their intention to give fans something new in the shape of the amusingly titled Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, debuting on WiiWare this June.

Wayforward Technologies – the company responsible for the stunning Contra 4 on the Nintendo DS – has recently confirmed that it is working on an WiiWare update of the classic Gameboy Color platformer Shantae.
The GBC original is something of a cult classic and fans have been clamouring for a sequel for years. They very nearly got one on the Gameboy Advance, but the project was sadly cancelled..
Hudson has dated a few of their upcoming WiiWare games for Japan. Along with the dates, they've announced two new titles. There's also (finally) clarification on the Bomberman WiiWare game and Bomberman retail game. I'll go down the list in the same order Hudson did:
First off, Joy Sound is no longer a WiiWare game. It will be released as a retail game because it includes some accessoires which..
Gameloft isn’t really a company that you’d associate with top-rank videogaming, thanks to the fact that it has only really dabbled in the notoriously inconsistent world of mobile phone software. That said, it’s one of the better companies currently working in that sphere of interactive entertainment.
Looking to expand into the domestic market, Gameloft has announced that it will be releasing..
With WiiWare now officially launched in Japan, it’s difficult not to feel a slight sense of disappointment when looking at the opening salvo of software. Sure, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles looks lovely and the Dr Mario update is addictive as ever, but a few too many of the titles appear to be either over-priced shovelware or ‘too Japanese’ to appeal to a Western audience.
Fear not, because the US launch is looking a hell of a lot more enticing, largely thanks to titles like LostWinds, which is shaping up to be the kind of game that pu...
