What a bizarre update. Why didn't they just make the leaf available for purchase from the get-go? 🤨

And an update that signals what items/variants we've already acquired without the need to constantly check the catalogue would be the best QoL update.

That’s nice and all. But why don’t celebrate with the original on NC? Never played in my purple cube but would love to try it out.

@StarCollector Just a bit of effort. If Nintendo want to wait so long between series updates I think they should support games more substantially for longer. With the S2 there should be a reason for people to dust the game off again but in reality there isn't. Obviously it doesnt help that new horizons is far from the best in the series in general. The last update of any note was 4 years ago. I think I may be in the minority of Nintendo gamers who expect more from them but if the leaf statue does it for you, then all power to you.

Enjoyed it during covid, let the grand rug rats have it along with my switch, brought a switch 2, got ACNH switch 2 version and started a new island. Am I still enjoying it? Yes, but..... Nintendo needs to give it some serious DLC or release a new AC in the next 12-18 months. Give me one last xmas with my new residents unless they get fed up with lack of DLC and leave on their own accord?!

@Poisonedpillsuk why would they continue support for a game from 6 years ago instead of allocating costs and manpower into a new game?

I think our interpretation of "Significant" differs. I also think that they could support the game whilst also working on a new game. Last time I looked, Nintendo had a few quid, im pretty sure they could manage it.

@Poisonedpillsuk agreed, you seem to have unrealistic expectations of what significant means. Nintendo doesn't owe you more content for a six year old game, regardless of how much money they have. The fact we got more content at all recently is baffling. I'd prefer they put their quid towards a new game that expands and improves upon New Horizons rather than trying to milk this game dry.

@Gatorclops different expectations, and thats ok. Relax. I don't think they owe me anything I just feel they stopped supporting it too early which is compounded by the fact that there are alot of other games that do the cosy genre of game much better than Animal crossing new horrizons, including previous Animal crossing titles. I think the few quid comment must have gone over you head but the point was they are perfectly capable of introducing new things to the game at next to nothing cost to keep it fresh whilst also working on a new game. You are happy they haven't supported it a huge amount, I would like them to have done so more with interesting content to keep it fresh. Its ok for us to have a differing opinion. I'm sure Nintendo much prefers your stance than mine, it saves them having to make an effort.

@Dev-N wondering if they’re working on the new game. However, I wouldn’t expect any announcements until 2028 at the earliest if there is one.
