The creator of Undertale and Deltarune, Toby Fox, has frequently shown off his plethora of skills during his time in the industry — from writing to game design, and even composing music! And it's that last one that's brought him particular attention from Game Freak and The Pokémon Company.

Toby Fox has confirmed on Twitter today that he's responsible for some of the music that we could hear in today's Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer! Namely, Toby Fox has composed the 'field music' of the game, which he says Game Freak has rearranged multiple times throughout the game. Sounds like it's one of the big leitmotifs of Scarlet and Violet, then!

But that's not all; Toby Fox has also confirmed that he's contributing more than a single track to the game, with a cheeky little reference to his contribution to Sword and Shield's own soundtrack.

For those who don't remember, this isn't the first time Toby Fox has worked with Game Freak. Previously, he was the primary composer for the RPG Little Town Hero. But he also composed a single track for the Generation 8 Pokémon games — namely, the Battle Tower theme, which many players might not have heard if they didn't track down this challenge during the post-game!

Here's a snippet of the absolute bop that Toby Fox composed for Sword and Shield:

At least in Scarlet and Violet, Toby Fox's music will be an integral part of the main game. And it's sounding good to us from what we can make out in the trailer! Give it another watch and let us know if you can spot any Toby Fox stylings in the music.

How much more Generation 9 music can we take today? We already know what the new legendaries will look like, your new professors, a handful of new 'mons, and some potential past and future themes. Phew! That's just scratching the surface.

Are you excited to hear Toby Fox's work in Scarlet and Violet? Let us know in the comments!
