This week sees "The Fairyland Story" join Hamster's Arcade Archives collection on the Nintendo Switch.
The Fairyland Story is a Taito action game that made its debut in 1985. You take control of a young witch and battle against monsters deep within a castle. If you want to make it out alive, you'll need to master various magics and techniques to overcome all sorts of enemies.
This one (as usual) will be priced at $7.99 or your regional equivalent. We've also got some screenshots:

Where the hell is Raiden. It's not going to get here by Christmas. That is the most depressing news of 2020
This is one of those single-screen action puzzlers like Taito's own Bubble Bobble. I played it on one of the Taito Legends sets on PS2. It's not for everyone, but I thought it was quite good and enjoyed it a lot. And you turn enemies into cake, so that's always a good time. It's worth mentioning it has a weird continue system, so use those save states to avoid making a mistake and losing progress.
@sixrings yea what you said!!! What the hell!! They announced that what back in July??
I'd rather see these in a Taito arcade collection...
Taito? Of course I'm getting it. Really hoping for Qix and Jingle Hunt/King someday
OR, and hear me out, Taito, CADASH
Nice, an older “kill-em-up” as a few like to call the genre. As a big fan of this style of arcade I will certainly look out for it!
A Bubble Bobble predecessor I'm definitely interested in. On my wishlist, and I hope to see the adventures of Bub and Bob soon, considering they've been available on PS4 for years now.
Glad I have this on the Taito Collection 2 for PS2.
Yet another obscure old 80's title I barely heard of and don't care to buy. It seems like Raiden is never going to release. I don't know why they announce these games that are clearly of high interest so early if they never plan on releasing them.
@JayJ I might as well be waiting for metroid prime.
I'd love to team up with my friends in quarantine, by having some online rounds of the classic Gauntlet. I doubt Nintendo would invest in it though. The've have proved me wrong once or twice.
@tadams587 so would I. Hamster needs access to atari, midway, capcom, Sega games.
absolute classic of game, just a fun time to play and you can definitely tell how they got to bubble bobble from here
@Kriven IIRC a lot of them don't necessarily originate from specific games but moreso genres and types of arcade machines
marina (who is who i play) just kind of represents Taito's mahjong games moreso than a specific character and musashi is just a parody of ryu/fighting arcade games, etc.
@tadams587 If you want Gauntlet, that is unfortunate that Midway is dead. They surely would've been pumping out the re-releases on Switch but it seems Warner Bros. has little interest in that part of the market. Didn't they even take down the Midway arcade games that were released on Xbox 360 before the buyout?
I feel the need to mention chase hq 1 and 2 . . .again x x x x
@KingMike I'd much prefer gauntlet than Lego (insert franchise here)
Is it just a coincidence that the Angry Video Game Nerd recently reviewed this game?
Looks cute. Not interested though
