Bandai Namco has confirmed the release date for the upcoming Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization Deluxe Edition for Nintendo Switch. You'll be able to get your hands on it from 24th May.
Originally released on PlayStation systems and PC, this game has you joining Kirito, Asuna, Leafa, and other familiar faces from the series, all jumping into a new Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game called 'Sword Art: Origin'. Within this game, you'll be travelling through the world of Ainground to discover the truth behind this new virtual universe.
Hollow Realization's deluxe release on Switch marks the first time that the Sword Art Online series has made its way to the console. The game will come with all DLC previously released on other platforms.
Are you excited to play through this one on Switch? Will you be picking it up on its 24th May release date? Let us know in the comments.

Oh man! I always wanted to say that!
I don't really know enough about it to make any sort of decision yet but its review scores on other platforms doesn't inspire confidence.
LOL "hollow realization", who named their game like that?
SAO. No other anime I have seen has recieved so much hate from people who've not seen more than a handful of episodes. You're certainly not obligated to like it, but you've no right to judge it without seeing it, and certainly no right to attack people who do enjoy it.
If this game gets half way decent reviews on Switch, I will give it a chance.
@Heavyarms55 actually, people have every right to voice uneducated and unnecesary opinions on whatever subject.
I had this on PS4 - It was great! I didn't get far into the game because I sold my PS4 when Switch came out.
I LOVED the Anime up to and including Episode 13 - An entire story arc where I thought the entire thing had finished - It should have finished there lol. Further episodes and arcs were underwhelming but up to Episode 13 was awesome!
I'm looking forward to getting this and finishing it!
Hilariously - the Characters shout "SWITCHING" during battle lol
"SWITCHING" !
Still got Hollow Fragment in my backlog to start (and Lost Song to get; I reckon neither entry is moving Switchward) on Vita before I turn to this - and I'd like to catch up with the animated flagships (Alicization is rolling on full steam and I haven't even watched the movie yet) before it all. But where to get the following games including this one afterwards remains a no-brainer.
@jobvd these people tend to want the so-called "freedom of speech" without the responsibility of speech. So they'll adamantly defend their right for vocal and spiteful ignorance but predictably get up in arms when it turns out the public they're voicing their "opinions" to also has every right to voice back opinions and assessments on said opinions. What goes around comes around.
@Heavyarms55 SAO has it relatively tame (not that it excuses the issue), mostly a case of hype backlash with a side of some exaggerated side traits. It still remains pretty much a .hack//SIGN successor (to the point of incidentally employing the same composer) in terms of exploring true virtual reality and the many ways in which it impacts people (as well as some in which it actually doesn't), plus the perennial topics of artificial intelligence and worldcraft. And from what I've heard of the games' plots, they tend to follow suit.
@cfgk24 amusing but has nothing on Don't Starve intro where the protagonist is outright told to "throw the switch!" XD
Oh can't wait to play this in the go!! And then fatal bullet!!! Boom
I'm looking forward to this. I've always wanted to play a SAO game. So much so I nearly bought a Sony console in one of its many forms. But the justification of a games console for a single game is a hard pill to swallow... Sooooo with bated breath, I simply await their arrival on the switch!! Yay
@Flokii it's a fun game to play with a lot to do. Of course a lot of ppl knock the Sao games but I've played them all and this one is definitely one of the best.
Too bad reviews for the PS4 version aren't great. Considering how much love I have for the anime, I will have huge expectations and I am almost sure to be disappointed with the game.
Noooo that's awesome news, i love this genre, so a must buy for me.
I will consider this. I liked the 2 previous games from the series. I also begun this game soon before selling my PS Vita, so that may be a chance to start over. However, so far this year will provide other games I may be looking forward to more (Daemon X Machina, Pokemon, Legend of Zelda Awakening and few others).
For anyone wondering if they should get this game... If you want to play an Singleplayer MMO anime style game, then go for it. I spent over 100 hours on it on the Vita and loved every second of it. And since the Switch has sleep-mode, I could pause. But I would suggest waiting for FFXII, since that game is probably way better and has more content. I only spent 100 hours because of the GRIND. but hey, it's portable, no problem.
Played this one on Vita and I wasn’t impressed. Total bore. Your mileage may vary, but I’d recommend spending your money on Xenoblade or waiting for Final Fantasy 12.
Can anyone tell me if some of the show’s original music is in this game? Specifically A Tender Feeling or Everyday Life?
@jobvd I mean you're right, they have the legal right to. But that doesn't make it okay. It's rude, unproductive and unpleasant.
I will be buying this one for sure.
That game is boring af. Worst of the SAO console games.
Think I'll read the manga before I make a decision on this one. Anyone here read them already?
So whom is selling it?
So let me get this straight.... This is a game based on a Japanese cartoon series where people paint pictures of swords for hours everyday just to sell online for miniscule fees?
Seems Interesting
Looks alright for a game based on a tv show. Doesn't often happen. Naruto and Full Metal kinda sucked IMO. This anime was also hilarious, I don't think there was a single female that didn't throw themselves at the main dude.
For sure picking it up day one.
@remychiha cheers for the glowing review, on your words alone I'll pre-order this then
@jobvd yes they do and all it does is how how ignorant they truly are
Oh hell yeah im exited its always have been my favorite anime and now that its coming in a game i just cant wait!
