The next Arc System Works fighting game Kill la Kill: IF will arrive on the Nintendo Switch in both North America and Europe on 26th July. This is timed in with the Japanese release on 25th July. The game will also receive two free downloadable characters this summer. These characters are Mako Mankanshoku and Ultimate Double Naked DTR.
If you haven't heard about this game before, it's described as a "battle action" title based on the popular Studio Trigger anime, which stars a school girl named Ryuko Matoi who gains super-human powers from her uniform.
If you're concerned about censorship due to the nature of this anime, there's no need to worry. Earlier this month, the western publisher PQube confirmed the game would "be the same across all regions" and platforms. If anything is changed, it promises to notify fans.

Love the show. Love the concept of the game. But I'm still not entirely sold on how well it's actually going to be executed. I need to see more.
@Lizuka Senran Kagura games are cartoony, over-the-top, and lacking in any sort of elicit detail with their fanservice, and the developers are still having a hard time trying to skirt new content restrictions on the PS4.
One of the best anime in recent years that is likely to, as usual, get a mediocre fighting game cash grab. So rarely do popular anime get quality games, many studios know they can do "just enough" that bare minimum, and fans will likely buy it...
A basic fighting game is somewhat forgivable for Kill La Kill, since 90% of the anime was 1v1 fights... but still.
Terrible anime and now they put a game that taints my birthday and beloved FE release day!?
I mean cool if people want it. I just wanted to play a hater for a moment since I do actually not like KLK at all.
@Heavyarms55 Man, best is kinds overstating it. The show had a lot of structure problems. It felt like they were trying to copy the originality of Gurren Lagann, but didn't understand that while the show had cool ideas, those ideas were implemented on top of an already good story. Can't say the same about Kill la Kill
@Abeedo It wouldn't say it was the number 1 best by any means, but it is certainly in the top 5%. Almost no other anime has matched the popularity it had. Before or since. There have been a few. Re:Zero was huge, Attack on Titan(at least the first season) and a handful of others, but not many dominated the internet like Kill La Kill did. Every week had me begging for more. Tumblr and Reddit and other sites flooded with gifs and people talking about it... Absolutely the same quality as Gurren Lagann. I would argue that preferring one over the other is purely a matter of taste.
@Heavyarms55 Yeah, these anime arena fighters are almost never good, the Ninja Storm games are alright enough, but most of the time they end up like Jump Force, mediocre at best.
It’s still just the exact same plot as Sonic Adventure 2. Like, bizarrely similar.
@KingdomHeartsFan Sony in particular has been on a puritan streak with censorship lately.
@KingdomHeartsFan they censored dmc5
Words cannot describe how much I think this game does not belong. Why is every character so revealing at every second for no reason? Isn't the main character....UNDERAGE?!
@PBandSmelly Watch Kill La Kill.
@Mew
(deranged hissing noises)
NA might screwed over again and will have to to EU markets to buy and import it or worse Japan.
@Heavyarms55 Gurren Lagann knew where it was going from the start, developed it's main cast, and had sick animation, all while telling a great story. Kill la kill lost focus (remember when she wanted to find out more about her Dad, or how they gave matoi some dumb excuse to turn evil?), all the characters had one sided personalities (except when Ryuko becomes evil, which was frankly bs), the show used stills for the majority as they had no budget for animation, and the story to be more tighter. I understand why the majority of the shows fans liked it, but I'm the type of person who notices these flaws way too much that it changes my outlook on a show. It's why I couldn't make it through shows like assasination classroom which expected its audience to believe the government would fund a massive pudding cup as they considered it to be a plausible assasination method. There's no doubt that the show has problems, however the enjoyment depends on how likely you are to notice them.
