Super Mario Odyssey looks set to be one of the most innovative entries in the series but the feature which has cap-tured and cap-tivated (sorry) the imagination of the general public is Mario's ability to possess certain enemies by hitting them with his new, sentient headgear.
This new power may have you counting down the days until launch, but for modders, waiting is hard. If you need proof of this, check out the video above, which shows how Mario's cap-throwing talents have been skilfully shoehorned to Super Mario 64.
As you can see from the footage, minus a bit of polish the process works very much as it does in the forthcoming Switch title - you can even use the cap as a platform to jump on. It never ceases to amaze us how modders and hackers are able to pull off these tricks, and do them so quickly as well.
Bravo, Kaze Emanuar.

This game looks so empty now...
That said, I want to see this mod in Sunshine!
With so much real news these days this article feels stupid.
Looks rather badly done, for the capturing. Hat throw is impressively done. But capturing needs some major tweaking.
seems like a good remake of the game.
wow, impressive!
Man, these guys work fast! Awesome stuff.
Well, I'm impressed. I might just give it a download and see if I can get it working.
Actually looks pretty cool!
Kaze Emanuar is the gift that keeps on giving.
Seriously, his channel isn't there just for show.
Well, it sort of is, but...
That was quick!
