The latest Ratchet & Clank adventure is due to arrive on the PS4 next year, and despite the fact that it's not on Nintendo formats, that's still worth celebrating - it proves that there's room for cute, family-friendly action games on the next generation of consoles, amid all the brown and grey-coloured military shooters.
However, that's not the reason we're covering the game here - we've spotted a cheeky reference to Nintendo's beloved Star Fox series, which itself will be returning to small screens all over the world in the form of Star Fox Zero, which launches on the Wii U in early 2016.
The moment in question happens around the 2:15 mark, with one of the most famous phrases in Nintendo history being uttered. It's a cool tribute and is sure to bring a smile to the face of many a Star Fox fan.

The game is looking very nice and the StarFox section looks like a good tribute and maybe the developers can't wait for the new StarFox too be released!!
Game looks stunning and definitely a purchase in the future.
Cant wait for this! The Ratchet games are always quality, day one purchase for sure.
lol noticed it Yesterday and comented about it on PushSquare.
Ratchet & Clank games have always been full of Nintendo influences.
I was mentioning how this game looked good on PushSquare, but it's still a movie tie in so I'll wait and see.
@JaxonH But the movie is also made by the same people, so the movie is basically a stand alone cutscene montage
@Einherjar
All that means is whoever is making the movie was contracted to go ahead and do the cutscenes too.
Still a movie tie in, and history has proven most tie ins are given less attention to perfecting gameplay mechanics and more attention to selling the game through the movie.
Again, we'll have to wait and see. But so far so good anyways.
Your jab about brown and grey is a bit out of date Damien. Realistic games are much better about adding colour nowadays than they were for that 3 or 4 year stretch in the last gen.
The sad thing is, this looks so much better than Starfox so far D:
Not the first Nintendo reference they've thrown in the series, nor the first time they've mentioned the barrel roll meme IIRC.
"It proves that there's room for cute, family-friendly action games on the next generation of consoles, amid all the brown and grey-coloured military shooters."
A stereotype that's as inaccurate as it is lazy.
Ratchet & Clank is one of my favourite game series ever, can't wait to see the movie!!!
@JaxonH It is being made my the creators of the franchise though so should be good.
@JaxonH It's just an HD remaster of the first game with some of the newer weapons like Mr. Zurkon added in so I'm not even sure how they could mess it up. We'll unless they add in 4 player like A4O, but I think it's just a straight up solo adventure. Not worth a 2nd thought, it will be good. Plus I'm sure you know the game was done to tie in with the movie release which has been delayed until next April so they have plenty of time to tighten it up if there were any issues rushing it out on the original release date.
Or you could save yourself $30 and just go see the movie.
Love me some Ratchet & Clank. Picking up a PS4 for this and Street Fighter.
This is one of the games that is making me want a PS4
@JaxonH Uhm...no. The Movie was written by Todd Fixman, who wrote the script to every R&C game.
On top of that, Insomniac is directly involved, so is SCE.
The only 3rd Party comapnies involved are Rainmaker Entertainement, an animation studio and Blockade Entertainment, their License Management.
So Incomniac and SCE are doing both, the movie and the game. Also, the game is a new rendition of the first R&C game, there is not much that can go wrong here.
After this game, I would love to see jak and Dexter HD or a sequel. And while naughty dogs at it a new crash bandicoot too.....please
@Einherjar
That's all fine and well. But it doesn't change the fact it's a tie in for a movie, and there's been some pretty aweful R&C games in the past.
I'm reserving judgement until I see for myself the game is worthy. I'm not just gone take a blind leap of faith that it's good "just because the same guys are making the movie".
The movie could be good and the game still sucks, or they both could suck. Or they could both be good, but my reasoning stands. Movie tie ins do NOT get the benefit of the doubt with me under any circumstance, until proven otherwise.
@rjejr
***Being a remake is a good foundation, but I'm still not taking anything at face value. Big name studios mean nothing to me- I've seen some of the best dev teams screw the pooch on multiple occasions.
Let's just say I'll wait and see and leave it at that.
Really wish Nintendo would work with Insomniac on something. A Crack in Time is a fantastic game, not just in the R&C series but in general. It'd be a match made in video game heaven for me!
Ah, nice nod!
And pretty looks pretty. It looks better than some CG movies _
Judging by the movie trailers the game will be better than the movie.
@mjc0961
Yes. That's exactly right. Full Frontal Assault. And while I haven't played the older entries, it's safe to say some of those were pretty bad too.
Now why don't you get out of here.
Just because someone has a different opinion than your almighty pov does not mean they are a troll. You, however, are harassing anyone with an opinion that's not yours.
It would be one thing if your opinion was at least somewhat balanced to force on others. But it's no secret how much of a Sony fan you are (which I like Sony too, but not to the point I defend bad games and accuse anyone who disagrees) The guy who thinks LBP is a better game than Mario Maker (I'm sorry, LBP sucks and it doesn't matter how "creative" or full of options it is- still can't redeem it from being mediocre) and there's no bad Ratchet & Clank games, and anyone who would dare say otherwise is clearly trolling. Right .
I wished those games where also on Nintendo devices, but that aint gonna happen!
