It's the end of a busy week in the world of Nintendo, with the main event being a Direct broadcast on 5th November, which contained some tasty reveals. The least surprising of these reveals related to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, as the big N finally brought us the announcement video for Duck Hunt (known as Duck Hunt Duo in Europe) — the original Duck Hunt is also coming to the Wii U Virtual Console.
The majority of players with the 3DS version, or those that have been following the releases, will have known about this character long ago. With the reveal did come some images, at least, which show how humorous the duo are in action.
The official website posted its usual round of images for the character(s) earlier this week, and as a pleasant way to close the week we're attached the hi-res versions below. Best facial expressions in the whole game? Quite possibly.
Check them out below, including the reveal vid and neat NES style artwork, and let us know whether you're looking forward to having a dog's life of it in the Wii U version of the game.

Falco watch it!
We need the Wii U Zapper!
3 Falcos and 1 Duck! Amazing
that game box doe, i'd get that if it was a limited edition thing
So maybe we can get some more Zapper games then?
It is amazing how good the intro video looked in HD when watchingit on the eShop
"This seal is your assurance that Nintendo has approved and guaranteed that hunting season is open" <3
That Falco one is awesome.
You guys at Nintendo Life probably got your Smash Bros WiiU copy by now, but someone who also obtained one broke the embargo and revealed Flat Zone 2 and Pokemon Stadium 2 on YouTube. Knowing you would brake the embargo yourselves, you won't make an article about leaks at this point.
instead of just being a eshop NES port it should be a hd remake for wiiu with a new wiiu repro zapper. Its so annoying how companies never understand what fans want, bring back a hd shooter remake series with Duck Hunt, Wild Gunman, Gumshoe and Hogans alley on one disc bundled with a new zapper and watch the money pile up
@YANDMAN I am not sure if that would become the success you envision it to be.
@YANDMAN An HD Duck Hunt would lose its charm.
@YANDMAN I'm with you in that I'd like to see a modern shooting gallery type game, or even some ports from the arcade (aka operation wolf and the like). I'm not too sure the old school NES shooting games will garner much interest beyond novelty.
So let me get this straight: if I play online matches and relentlessly attack anyone that is the dog, I'll get a temp ban eventually correct?
I owe that stupid dog big time. I ALWAYS knew he and the duck were on the same team, glad to see myself vindicated after almost 3 decades!
@Porky
An embargo means getting the copy early while not spoiling others. Is this correct?
@YANDMAN while this would make me infinity happy, I agree with the below poster in that in may not be as successful as we'd want it to be. People like myself, and probably you, who grew up with these games, would be thrilled, I don't think the younger generation would see how insanely fun a set like that would be... even if retro is all the rage right now. .here's to hoping, but we've been waiting for something like this since the wii days.
Megaman with flappy Beat against DH Duo is my favorite screen shot
The Kirby one is funny
you know, SSB on wii u and 3ds went from a game I wasn't excited about at all cause it barely looked different from the other SSB, but now I'm really REALLY wanting a Wii U again to play this!!! (amongst other games, of course...and yes I sold my Wii U I had before, that was a big mistake -_-)
At first I thought that having the Dog in Super Smash Bros. was a terrible idea. But now that I think of It, I finally get to knock that smug little dogs teeth out as my favorite Nintendo Characters.
@SavoirFaire
As far as I know, if you attack the same person using the dog over and over, then yes. If you keep attacking that same person even when he/she chose a different character, you would get banned too.
So your solution will be to find a lot of different dog users and alternate between them. Just to be on the safe side, you can play matches with the CPU so you can fight with three dogs at the same time without fear of getting banned!
@Hero-of-WiiU Ehh yes, but allow me to simplify. I believe the person can comment on and reveal footage of what Nintendo had already announced. Upon receiving a copy, they are given rules to follow. If they don't follow them before the date allowed to reveal then embargo has been breached. NintendoLife will be allowed to post their review of Smash WiiU on the 18th or 19th so be on the lookout!
@CrazyMetroid you are not alone.
My god I love the Duo's theme, so catchy (and yes I know its technically a trio).
@YANDMAN Actually there was a mini game that was sort of spiritual successor to Duck Hunt on the Wii. It was the target shot mini game in Wii Play. Every so often, while you were shooting cans and targets and skeets, a duck would fly by that could be shot for lots of points.
Cute.
Awesome!
lol
The other thing Nintendo could do is get some licenses of the third party zapper games and along with their own, they could make a third NES remix.
My second favorite character to play as (1st being Greninja).
I'm gonna find a way to get that NES Box Art as a print. It would look awesome on my wall.
Im thinking falco should of sat this one out back at the docking bay !
I love the falco one. Mustve been tough to get the screenshot timing.
Speaking of timing, and duckhunt duo, my new profile pick was an accident but I thought it looked hilarious.
@Djreisat what just like NES remix isn't popular because the younger generation didnt get to experience it?
I would say Nintendo probably has a larger percentage of older gamers than young, Gamers that have followed the family of consoles their entire lives.
@Porky what just like hd mario kart did?
@Samuel-Flutter Yes i am aware of it, the fact that they programmed that level and still didnt make a duck hunt is stupid.
@YANDMAN No.
a reproduction zapper wiimote cradle would be the shiznit. And that dog and duck combo reminds me of banjo kazooie a bit. Could Nintendo be testing the waters to see if there is a possibility of using these characters in something more than lightgun/smash bros games? It's probably just wishful thinking but who knows.
Fun pictures, fun video!
@theBluntKnight,
You aren't the first one who mentions this (unless you are the same person from Youtube). On Youtube someone also said that he felt Sakurai could do a game with them (Duckhunt duo). Who knows, could be fun!
