Cubit The Hardcore Platformer Robot has featured in today's European Nintendo Download Update, with a discount and free demo arriving in the region on 17th July. Developer CoderChild has now been in touch to confirm that this is actually part of a promotion accompanying a free update to the game.
Aiming to respond to gamer feedback, the developer states that this update — which should be the default version for copies downloaded from 17th July — will feature improved controls. On top of that there'll be online rankings tied to a new game mode; this mode is outlined as including redesigned levels and visuals, in addition to an alternative method of progression. The scoreboards will also display rankings by country, there are some assorted bug fixes, and in a minor change usernames can also be longer.
We rather enjoyed this budget platformer in our review, so the upcoming price discount — €2.00 / £1.80 from 17th to 24th July — is a nice combination with the update. It'll certainly be worth consideration; North American gamers have a slightly longer wait, though CoderChild hopes the update will hit the region within the next month.
Are you a Cubit The Hardcore Platformer Robot owner looking forward to the new content, or are you perhaps tempted to take the plunge now that there's more on offer? Let us know in the comments below.

Bought this on a whim a few months back. Played it once, didnt like the controls at all.
Might go back to it with this new update and give it another try.
Cool, I'll buy it.
Great to know. I loved the game. 100% it upon release, I'll see what new will come of this patch if this come to NA.
Maybe I wont regret having bought this? Big maybe.
@sinalefa Why did you regret buying it? I feel like it was an awesome little-game, cross between The Impossible Game and Darius. At first I thought the double-jump mechanic was not working all the time, until I wrote to the developper and he sent me a picture showing me that the double jump have to be precise for it to work, that there was a dead zone. And he was right. Since then, I had no trouble finishing all the challenges in the game.
i have the game, but never won it
Would love to see this in North America!
Update and online leaderborads means I'll give this another look.
@Drac_Mazoku
Never saw this comment till now, sorry.
For me the double jump failed to register sometimes, even with that (admittedly confusing) graphic. Returning to the game after the update, controls feel a lot more responsive now.
It seems based on feedback he changed the double jump to something more akin to Bike Rider, and it makes the game a lot more enjoyable. I don't regret the purchase anymore so kudos to CoderChild for that.
