Although we're still a few weeks off the Wii U launch, we're already aware that a handful of titles will be running at full 1080p resolution, including Rayman Legends, Toki Tori 2, and ZombiU. Now we have one more game to add to that list.
The latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu has revealed that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will run at full 1080p resolution, with 5.1 surround sound to boot. It's a long way from the original Monster Hunter Tri, which was originally released for the Wii a few years back.
Aside from the updated visuals, gamers can look forward to a handful of new content and features, including local multiplayer and save file transferring with the 3DS version of the game.

I'm gonna drink my tears tonight~
Wii U purchase already validated.
Hey there Jinny
Is it March yet? D:
That's pretty awesome.
Is this upscaled 1080p of native 1080p?
Never played Monster Hunter 3 on my Wii so until I own a Wii U I will keep this in my mind.
hang on, monster hunter on 3DS and WiiU? transferable saves?
someone please pinch me, I think i'm dead.
Some 1080p pictures:

@19Robb92 looks kinda low-poly. And the shadows aren't too great. But hey, it's a port. And it's monster hunter, only prettier. I'll play the hell out of it.
MH Tri got me hooked, so picking this up is a no-brainer. I will definitely be getting a Wii U for this, if nothing else. Love it, love it, love it.
@Obvious it is native as this isn't just a port of the Wii game.
@Robb Look at the text! It's so crisp!!
HYPED
@KneehighPark
Is it actually confirmed that Rayman Legends is running at 1080p?
I remember that it was supposed to be running at 720p at E3. If so, that's good to hear. Not that it'd make a world of difference as long as the game runs smooth, but the slightly more crisp visuals would be appreciated.
zombiU is 1080p?
can we have a article detailing what specs each game is running with?
Not that it's ultra important to gameplay, but darn it will look great.
Nintendo delivering on Sony's promise of full 1080p. awesome
@Aviator I hope ur right...otherwise we have to deal with some Fony Drones and XsuX users.
Any Monster Hunter news (outside cancelling) is good news. Could care less about the graphics, but yay I guess.
@Obvious78 It's native, because the console supports native thanks to AMD Radeon HD + IBM motherboard.
@Araknie
that is not what native means.
He is wondering if it is a port of the wii version(made on wii=native to wii)
remade entirely on wiiU= native.
ported from wii and upscaled on wiiU =not native 1080p.
Ouch, those textures are still far too blurry, why can't they replace them with better ones? Is it really asking too much?
Wow those graphics are unreal. Too bad Unreal is a 1998 PC game, so they'll be 15 years old when this comes out. It obviously looks better than the Wii, but they aren't exactly pushing the envelope. Maybe it will look better in motion and those are just some ugly screen grabs? Everything always looks better in game on the Wii than those low grade videos they put on the Nintendo Channel blown up to full screen.
Judging by those screen shots is this a new game or a remake, the port area looks different?
It's a remake of Tri.
The port is the local version of Loc Lac, but it seems it's returning as the online hub too.
(Hopefully we can get to it easily like in P3)
This is gonna be epic! Also, is NSMBU & Nintendo Land in 1080p?
i got to play this
@MrWalkieTalkie All Nintendo launch window games is in 720p. On the other han i think they run i 60fps to but i'm not sure
@3dbrains @Burny
Hmm, well, this is a bit embarrassing. My source that tells me that games like ZombiU and Rayman Legends will be running at 1080p is the same source for this story (WiiUDaily). While I am 100% sure that MH3Ultimate is running at 1080p (upscaled or native, who knows at this point), I got the 'stats' on Rayman Legends and ZombiU from Wii U Daily.
However, a few people have informed me that that particular site has been known to present rumor as truth.
...It's a port from the 3DS guys, not the Wii.
@19Robb92 I have to admit that I never knew anything about the game and was honestly not even that interested... that is until I saw some of those screen shots you posted. The game looks awesome visually and very interesting from what I gather from the screen shots. I may have to give it a try.
@Erica_Hartmann Glad someone finally posted this. You beat me to it. Regardless it looks awesome.
Marth gan't gum toon inuff
/spits out drool.
I mean, march can't come soon enough.
Nice to hear, but I really hope these graphics are just a result of it being ported from 3ds. sure it's "rebuilt" but not redesigned entirely, the textures are understandable if it's a rebuild from 3DS. Looks far from "next gen" to me, overall, just smoothed out for WiiU.
Being excited about these visuals is a clear indication that some people haven't played any HD games made in the past 5 years. Fun game, sure, but pretty? not really.
I want this!
People finally realizing how pretty HD is.
But really I'd hope the online system works a bit better than in Tri. With voicechat for everyone via gamepad mic.
As long as I can turn the voice chat off, then fine. lol
It may not be amazing but it'd still be leagues better than MH3 even at 720P. Those commenting on peoples' reaction need to keep in mind that many people aren't amazed that its an HD game but that its Monster Hunter in HD, just like those psyched about Mario or Zelda in HD.
Looks pretty good for a launch window game anyhow, especially one thats cross platform.
Seems like they didn't improve the graphics at all apart from upping the resolution. A bit dissappointing. It's still a great game, but it looks old.
I might be wrong but the dinos might have better textures..
I'll be getting this day 1, I love Monster Hunter games.
Ok, this isn't an all-new game for the Wii U guys...its a port of a 3DS game. They updated the textures for full HD. It was the same deal for Portable 3rd on the PSP being ported to the PS3.
Well, it looks like I've finally found a game that makes me want to buy a Wii U, although it probably will still be quite awhile before I actually buy one.
@Aviator Saying MHU is a 'remake' of Tri is like saying Pokemon Emerald is a 'remake' of Pokemon Ruby, it just doesn't feel right. It's more of an expanded addition. Also, there was P3rd inbetween (which I'm playing right now), so wouldn't Ultimate be a 'remake' of P3rd which would be a 'remake' of Tri?
No because U isn't a remake of MHP3.
It's not a remake at all...its a port of the 3DS version, which is an expansion of Tri.
I think a better way of looking at it is MHP3rd is what MH3 should have been. MH3U is like a combination of the two taking all the best parts and making, well, an ultimate edition.
I find it kinda funny how MH3 started on the PS3 but was moved to the Wii, but now we have MHP3rd on PSP/PS3 and MH3U on 3DS/Wii U.
HD,is the future.
I wonder if this game will support the keyboard that came with Pokemon: Typing Adventure. If it does, then I might just buy that game for the keyboard alone. (Pokemon: Typing Adventures, I mean.)
I'm going to assume for all your puny non-creepy avatar brains(no offense) that these are just screenshots from some of the earlier stages of the game.
Worst Case Scenario:All screenshots were "Bull-Shot" and the real game looks like a glorified PS2 game (and by the way for those that don't know, the term "Bull-Shot" is used for when game developers post screenshots that are prettier than they are in-game. I DID NOT self-censor myself so please don't report me)
Ah, the keyboard compatibility raises questions for me, and I really want to see some full hd screens that impress us.
More armour would work too oh and btw, the online room system needs to change: walking by dozens of boards in a huge area would work great
