Topic: Majora's Mask on VC just froze. I'm dead serious.

So here I was enjoying MM and all, when suddenly out of NOWHERE, the game just locked up completely. Snowhead Temple, just about to enter the boss room, after several hours of play without saving. I'm so annoyed!!! This version was supposed to fix the freezing errors from the Gamecube version! When it froze, the entire Wii locked up. The home button did nothing, and I was left with a really really annoying sound as well. This is so unbelievable... I've never seen the Wii crash, not even once, let alone on a Virtual Console game.

So basically this is just to let you know that this may not be an isolated incident, and it looks like MM VC is still in danger of random freezing.

You should email Nintendo about that. If it is a problem specific to MM, then they need to know. However, I have had my Wii freeze before - it locked up when loading up Animal Crossing one time, and like you said, the Home button didn't work.

Hopefully this was just an isolated incident.

Sometimes my Wii freezes up completely while browsing or even starting up the internet browser.
I have to unplug the power and plug it back in again and start again.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

My Wii's locked up a few times before as well, so hopefully this is indeed an isolated incident. You're the first person who has said the game froze, so I remain hopeful

Just in case you need more anecdotal evidence, my Wii has frozen, too. Once or twice it was during Twilight Princess. It's frozen multiple times attempting to update, too.

If my wii freezes it is usually while loading a game disc. The reset button doesn't even work. But in your case, ouch man, bad luck for losing so much progress.

I've e-mailed Nintendo so I'm waiting to see what they say.
If anyone's interested it locked up the exact second I smashed a giant snowball with Goron Link. If this was just a random thing and the emulation is fixed after all, then fine. But forgive me for being paranoid, seeing as I just lost several hours of progress.

Hmmm... my Wii has never frozen...

Oh noes... does that mean that I'm due for one soon?!??!?

@Tank2Tank: So... you played the Inverted Song Of Time to slow the pace? Because otherwise, you should have had plenty of opportunities to save (every normal 3 day period lasts about an hour).

The OP described an "annoying noise" when his Wii locked up. If the sound is similar to a bullhorn, then the issue is not with the game itself, but with the actual Wii. This happens to a lot of people, and its occurrences are not exclusive to any software on the Wii. It has to do with the hardware. Don't worry, Nintendo fixed Majora's Mask's freezing problems. Sorry about your save, though.

My Wii have only freezed once, it was while playing a Gamecube game, it made an annoying sound too.
But i've had one problem with Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the sound was all messed up, i deleted some of my VC games and it was fine after that.

Yeah, I was trying to get all the Goron / Snowhead stuff done in a single go, because I didn't think there was a risk of VC crashing.

I have the same problem.

Hopefully this gets fixed before it comes to the US. Although I doubt it.

Oh, and for those whose Wii freezes during internet connection, don't unplug it, just hold the power button for a few seconds. Eventually it will shut down.

I think Link has to use a heat or fire spell to stop from freezing.....Oh wait sorry wrong freeze. All kidding aside my Wii froze last week when I tried to go to the SD menu. It only happened once, so I guess its a fluke thing

This has happened to me (an apparently everybody else on this forum) before. BUT, you should still notify Nintendo if you have the same problem again just in case it is, in fact, a problem with Majora's Mask.

I only had this happen during Star Trek Conquest sessions and figured it was due to buggy code (it's from Bethesda after all). I'm sticking with that opinion!

Yeah, my Wii has frozen before also.

Anyway, try re-downloading Majora's Mask. That sometimes fixes VC problems.

If it freezes in mm again please by the love of god tell Nintendo before they release it to the US so I don't get a buggy version.
