Hello I noticed the old Dragon Quest thread was a year old so I didn't bother commenting on it because it was inevitably going to be archived. So I decided to make a new general thread for the series to discussion everything Dragon Quest related - being mainline games, spinoffs, news etc.

And I think it's the perfect time to make a new thread with the recent announcement of DQ12, DQ Treasures and the HD 2D remake of DQ3.

@Tasuki There's a reason users get confused by the policy, some moderators might nail you for necro posting while others might nail you for starting a new thread. There really needs to be a bit more clarity so mods know exactly what the rules are. Too much is left to interpretation.

@Tasuki Yeah they do it used to be a year iirc but they moved it down to 6 months. But people still get confused like @TowaHerschel7 said.

Old threads get closed when they’re simple question threads or specific stuff like that. Like, imagine reviving a thread asking for help in a level after a year since the last post was made, the user that created the thread is probably not even active anymore or has solved the issue a long time ago, so it’s like speaking to a mannequin.

General discussion threads about games or franchises don’t generally have an expiration date, however if people prefer making a new one after the previous one was inactive for an extended period of time, that’s fine too.

However if both threads somehow become active at the same time, then the one with the least activity be closed to avoid having the same discussion going on at the same time.

In this case I would recommend just going to the old thread since it's clear this new one made things a bit confusing.
