Topic: Where do you play your switch?

When i first purchased my switch console i played it almost exclusively docked for a couple of months. After a period of time i started to take my switch more and more outside. Nowadays i mostly take it with me and chill at coffee shops after work. But what about you? I'm super curious to know under what circumstances my fellow switch owners enjoy their time!

In bed.

Cozy. Warm. Snug as a bug in a rug.

Always play for about 10 mins before coming in to work. but then at work, at lunchtimes for 30 mins Monday to Thursday, then the full hour on Friday, the switch itself propped up by some giant Jenga blocks so it is eye level with controllers separated (think they call it Desktop mode)
I might play it at weekends but not very often, unless there is a game I really want to play.

@Magician That indeed sounds super cozy! I could never for some reason get comfortable playing the switch in bed..except when i tried detaching the joycons and playing with each in one hand while having the switch stand on a chair beside me lol
@Bunkerneath that's so cool to be able to play in short bursts at a time, in my case i manage to get around 2-3 hours of continuous playtime per day, but still when i'm in high spirits i might play another 30 minutes or so before bed ^^

@Yannis

More than a few pillows are behind me. I'm neither sitting upright in bed nor laying down. More of a 45 degree angle, as though I were in a lawn chaise or something.

Depends, I mean that's kinda the beauty of the Switch isn't it? Usually I'll play some of the "bigger" titles on the TV with full surround sound and so on. Say for the Marios, Zeldas and Metroids. For other games I'll kinda use my Switch more like it's a game cartridge if that even makes sense? Like I'll bring it along for a games night and friends/relatives will also bring theirs and we'll just rotate consoles in the dock. This is usually how Smash, Mario Kart and if I'm being honest... 90% of the time Jackbox Party Packs get played

Then there are other games where I'll play almost exclusively as a portable. The NSO titles I pretty much entirely play portably and I believe that's how I played through Link's Awakening HD. Also 2D platformers I tend to play like this as well as more "indie" titles, stuff like Baba is You and Gato Roboto I played almost entirely in portable mode

And even then, if I go on holidays I'll pack my Switch just like I used to pack my 3DS, DS or GameBoy before it. Playing a bit of Skyward Sword on a lazy morning away from everything sitting on a balcony overlooking the beach? I mean that's kinda cool. Can't do that on a PS5

@Magician that's exactly my position while i play too minus the pillows and add a padded chair with armrests to the mix! Also thanks to the overly specific picture i will be daydreaming of vacation for the rest of the day ;-;

It depends on the type of game and my mood. If I'm feeling too lazy to sit up straight and game. I just play in bed in handheld mode. Otherwise I throw it on the big screen in docked mode.

When I'm getting my a55 kicked on hollow knight by a boss I sit up straight and dock my Switch ^_^

@skywake thanks for sharing your experiences! I've been meaning for so long to try the NSO titles and yeah playing indie games portably has a certain charm to it (off Topic: if you enjoyed Gato Roboto you should definitely check out KUNAI if you haven't already, its amazing!)

I only play in the timeline where the name "karen" was ruined shortly after the switch released. XD

I prefer playing on a tv screen, only play docked. I would love a tv-only nintendo console that isn't a tablet built around a rechargeable battery locked inside. -actual battery access would solve that complaint.

I mostly play my Switch docked in my game room, but I sometimes play in handheld mode on my bed before going to sleep.

I mostly play it on the TV. It's nice to have the option to take it anywhere but the 3DS is more easily portable so I'm more likely to play that on the move, or just read a book on shorter bus/train rides.

Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music

In this place that has 6 walls, 4 around me and 2 above me, and one of the 4 walls has a hole in it with another wall but that wall can move. I sit in the middle of 6 walls.

@NeonPizza Yep pretty much lol. I have never been a big handheld gamer. Even going back to my original Grey brick pea soup colored screen Gameboy that baby was only used when I couldn't play on my NES like cartrips or my Grandparents place.

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed my time with the Gameboy lines and the DS and 3DS and they had some great games but for me gaming is on a big screen with a drink nearby while relaxing on the sofa. That's one reason that VR doesn't do it for me. I am glad we have that technology for those who enjoy that sort of thing but yeah maybe I am just old fashioned but it ls just not the same for me.

Typically I’ll play it in handheld in by bedroom or living room, sometimes docked in my living room, and I would obviously have to play handheld while I’m out.

Probably around 60% hooked up to my TV at home, ~30% handheld at home, and 10% out-and-about.

I think this is really an understated benefit of the Switch (even though it was a highlighted feature as far back as the initial reveal trailer). Whereas local multiplayer is all-but absent on most modern consoles, I'd argue that it's never been better on the Switch, in part because it's never been easier to take your whole console and games library with you.
