38 new eShop games this week. Anyone have any favorites and/or amusingly bad ones?
Most basic looking game of the week goes to Arcade Snake Grow which is... snake...and apparently doesn't support Pro Controller even though almost no buttons are used.
I caved in and bought Gauntler for a few bucks even though I couldn't find any reviews. It's a cute little pixel art double jump and wall jump game where you can switch between fast, higher jump, and slow fall. Fun so far.
My brain filters out anything I wasn’t already interested on now thanks to the constant onslaught of spam-ware, so sadly I think the age of finding hidden gems is a bit gone now.
Only 26 new eShop games this week; that's actually a lot less than recent weeks. I wonder if it just jumps up and down at random or if there are seasonal or event-related surges.
I'm very tempted by Alice Escaped; it got decent reviews on PC and was described as "Contender for being the most adorable Metroidvania around."
I've been tracking how many new eShop games come to Switch NA per week for the last few months. I'm too lazy to make a graph but here are the weekly number of new games since July:
So we are averaging 48 new games a week. If it keeps that pace, that is almost 2500 new games on Switch per year (note that I didn't keep formal track earlier in the year but my sense is that the average was a little lower but still 40+.)
There are already around 10,000 games on the eShop. With 2500 more per year, Switch is drowning in games. If we expect Switch 2 to be close to 100% back-compatible but with hardware that can run even more games, it may get truly insane.
108 new eshop entries in the Switch 2 eshop this week. It's been above 75 most weeks lately. It's not all garbage but.... the amount of garbage has become an overwhelming torrent in the last 2 years.
