@Magician I don't know about that. I don't think most people play smash for the competitive side. I think most people just play it for the multiplayer party game aspect.
@Bigmanfan By the same token, most people who play Smash casually aren't posting on these forums to voice their support of the game. If they were, FawfulsFury would see the support they desire.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,537 games (as of December 22nd, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
@Magician That is (unfortunately) true. I also believe there isn't a lot of support for smash because the dlc finished releasing. I'd imagine back in 2020/2021, more people would have smash on their lists.
Speaking of dropping support, I would have considered putting Mario 35 in my list if it still existed; that game was so silly but I loved it. At least you can still fully play Mario Maker 2 or Smash even if they stopped expanding them.
Possibly not top 10, but definitely top 20; I put more hours into that game than I did BotW.
@FawfulsFury we should have an underrated games thread. I think the same about Alien Isolation. I'd pay money for Mario 35 too!
@FishyS If Mario 35 was still playable it would probably be my most played game on the platform, I still don't understand why they made it a limit time release, it was epic!!
@FishyS Link's Awakening is my favourite Zelda game on the Switch too. (Though we'll see whether that opinion changes this week, when TotK comes out.) I love BotW as well, and IMO going for an open world/sandbox game was a great choice for the direction of the series, but it still feels like it has a bit too much gorgeous but ultimately "empty" content for me too give it a perfect 10/10. Whereas LA, with its much smaller scope and game world, allows for every landscape, every character, every nook and granny to be exquisitely designed and have so much loving detail put into it.
1. Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2. Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 3. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 4. Pokemon Legends: Arceus 5. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker 6. Off The Road Unleashed 7. Portal Companion Collection 8. Super Mario Odyssey 9. Promesa 10. Lego City Undercover
1. Sonic Mania
2. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
3. Great Ace Attorney Chronicles
4. Super Mario Odyssey
5. Metroid Dread
6. Luigi's Mansion 3
7. Age of Calamity
8. Doom 2016
9. Splatoon 2
10. Neo: The World Ends With You
Though I'm not counting games I've played before, like Link's Awakening and Mario Kart
@Bigmanfan Lego City Undercover is a good game, but the longish load times hold it back from being the best GTA game on Switch. I feel Saints Row III holds that title.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,537 games (as of December 22nd, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
10. Nier: Automata
9. Luigi's Mansion
8. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
7. Metroid Prime Remastered
6. Super Mario 3D All Stars
5. Metroid Dread
4. Steamworld Dig 2
3. Mario Odyssey
2. Alien Isolation
1. Zelda Breath of the Wild
I haven't even finished Metroid Prime Remastered and it's already in my top 10!!
Streamworld Dig 2 and Alien Isolation are underrated games in my opinion, I think they are recognised as good games, but I think if they had been released by Nintendo they would be even more highly regarded within the Nintendo community.
A few changes to mine since earlier in the year:-
10. Luigi's Mansion
9. Super Mario 3D All Stars
8. Metroid Dread
7. Nier: Automata
6. Metroid Prime Remastered
5. Steamworld Dig 2
4. Mario Odyssey
3. Alien Isolation
2. Zelda Breath of the Wild
1. Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Mario Kart has dropped out of my top 10 and I have moved some around - Tears of the Kingdom had to go into 1st, I love it.
Splatoon 2
Splatoon 3(took what the first 2 did and further refined and improved upon the formula and is constantly improving with all the updates and added content..a shooter masterpiece. i never have had more fun gaming than i have with the splatoon series!)
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe(for the first few years i frankly thought it was far too similar to the wii u version with not enough new content to really impress me, but then the booster course pass happened..)
Metroid Prime Remastered
Metroid Dread
Hollow Knight
Doom 2016
Doom Eternal
Sonic Mania
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
There's of course tons and tons of other great games on the system from 3rd party/indie developers, these are just the ones that came to mind for my top 10. I did not include Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom because massive open world Zelda is not for me, sorry. I much prefer the more linear 3D Zeldas. I left out great titles like Tropical Freeze and Super Mario 3D World because they're enhanced Wii U ports.
