This was the only 3D Sonic game since the Adventure 2 that I didn't hate. I didn't even like Generations.
So I hope this is true. I'd get a PS4 version in HD at 60fps.

Honestly not the Sonic game I felt really deserved a remaster. Colors is cool but not my favorite 3D Sonic at all. Its levels felt way too Mario-esque and didn't strike the balance between speed and platforming I felt Generations did a way better job with

@TheFrenchiestFry I totally see where you're coming from - Takashi Iizuka himself said that Sega and Sonic Team wanted all Mario fans to enjoy Sonic Colors. That pretty much explains why the Wisps are a lot like the power-ups you get in the Mario platformers, lol. I did like Colors though, it's one of the better Sonic games from the past decade, alongside Generations and Mania.

@TheFrenchiestFry This. Colors' platforming was way too slow and blocky for Sonic. It's a lot like Forces in its level design, and if you didn't like Forces (which most people didn't), you probably won't like Colors much better. 360/PS3 Unleashed's Day levels and Generations' Modern levels are a much better template for Sonic's gameplay, and those are the games I'd rather see remastered for the Switch.

@Bolt_Strike Honestly Forces makes Colors look a lot better in retrospect. I do like the game as a platformer and think it's pretty stunning visually as a Wii game, but as a Sonic game it came very close at points to turning Sonic into the thing he was supposed to be a mockery of - a vanilla platformer game

But i still like to see Wii cover version with its White game box + booklets inside. The Switch version maybe will not as colorful as Wii version.

I'm still hoping for the AD remakes this year.

@Snatcher You mean the Adventure games? Ew no, both games are criminally overrated and propped up by nostalgia, and the only way to make them actually good is with a from-the-ground-up reimagining to the point where it's almost a completely different game. Sonic's gameplay is all right (although the boost formula built on it even further and I vastly prefer that style of Sonic), but the other characters are just awful filler gameplay that don't feel like they belong in a Sonic game and aren't fun to play. Worse yet, the mediocre gameplay styles outnumber the quality gameplay styles (SA1- Sonic and Tails are good, Gamma is okay, but Knuckles, Amy, and Big are awful, SA2- Sonic/Shadow are good, Tails/Eggman and Knuckles/Rouge are awful). I've also heard people praise the games' "exploration", but what exploration? The Sonic levels are as linear as the boost games (arguably even more so), the only real "exploration" they have is an occasional detour for a hidden item and then it funnels you right back to the main path. Everyone just seems to view the Adventure games through rose-tinted glasses and ignore the flaws, all the while they're quick to point out those flaws in modern games like the boost games.

@Bolt_Strike Well I only want 2 bc thats one of the first 3d sonic games I played, but one sucked I played it on psn and I just can't. But if they did remake it they could fix a lot of the problems.

@Snatcher Nah, not really. Not without a complete redesign. Its flaws are too ingrained in the design and a remake would just copy/paste the bad design in a new graphics engine and maybe add a few new features or QoL improvements. They'd pretty much need entirely different levels that just stick with the same locations and assets closer to what Generations did with each of the levels it included.

@Bolt_Strike Well from what I learn'd is that sonic fans are hard to please some people love the hell out of colors, some hate colors, some want a sonic unleashed remaster/port, and some people just hate it, so I think sega going for colors is a good idea since alot of people actually liked this game, and asked them to bring it back, (On steam at least) But it would suck if they didn't port sonic gen over to the switch as that is one of the newest loved sonic game.

And another thing some people talk about sonic colors is to short (Not like I have played it ) but sonic gen was also a short game and could be beaten in one day, sonic games are not really known for there length, I think one of the longest being unleashed.

@Snatcher The length is a part of the reason why SEGA has failed to please its fans, because Sonic's gameplay revolved around speed, and in order to make the game fast, it needs to be either really short or really big (this is due to basic physics, speed = distance/time). SEGA for whatever reason (probably budget reasons) hasn't been able to make the game big enough to be satisfying, so it usually ends up being short or bogged down with filler gameplay or game design intended to slow you down (see: Heroes having tons of combat, Colors/Forces having blocky platforming sections). And 3D makes this even worse because it takes a lot more time and money to make 3D gameplay, so it only exacerbates the issue. That's the root cause of Sonic's struggles in 3D.

As for what they can do to fix it, they need to be smarter about how they pad out the game. Usually when 3D platformers have issues with length, they fall back on collectathon mechanics (IIRC, this is the entire reason they came up with the collectathon system in Mario 64), so that's one option. There's also another option that they've actually done before, but the problem is that they did it in 06. If you pay close attention to 06's level design, you'll actually notice that when you play some levels as other characters (for example when you play Kingdom Valley as Shadow, the last section of the level is actually the same as Silver's last section/Sonic's second to last section backwards, I actually first noticed they used this trick when I saw that Shadow bounced off the cathedral in that level in the opposite direction as Sonic/Silver), you actually do some of the sections backwards, which makes them feel like different levels despite them reusing the same maps. Unfortunately, since 06 is an infamous, buggy flop, SEGA is mostly staying away from what 06 did, so it's unlikely they'll go this route.

@Bolt_Strike Well sonic force I'm sure was going to be a much better game, they had sonic team (Which is a really small team) rush the game and in turn it turned out crappy, I don't care if they take 7 years as long as I can get a great sonic game, Never the less I really wanted sonic colors on the switch, and I just hope they can also bring over some fan favs, But if there next 3d sonic game (Which is believed to be what the netflix tv show is based off of) turns out bad they may just need to stick with retro sonic, bc sonic mania was amazing. (And they need to bring back the devs who worked on it)

@Bolt_Strike Oh I also think they need to cut 2d stuff from 3d sonic all together it ruins the pacing of the game and it just kinda messes with your momentum 2d stays in 2d sonic games and 3d stays in 3d sonic games, to be fair some sonic games were able to do the 2d stuff alright, I thought sonic unleashed did a good job at doing the 2d sections but other games just need to leave it alone. So ya I agree with alot of what you said and it makes sense.
