@FishyS To be fair, Luigi’s Mansion 3DS came out pretty much 1.5 years after Switch’s release, so 3DS wasn’t getting much software sales. Plus Luigi’s Mansion 3 kind of took the spotlight, as well as Dark Moon being more enticing to newer fans.
However, Switch is more successful than 3DS, and if it launches this year it’d be a good while before Switch’s Successor. It can also ride on some of the Mario Movie hype, and being a (most likely) cheaper release could help it as well.
I believe it was a personal preference from Next Level Games to start advertising LM2HD so early, as well as Nintendo because they wanted to announce it because of the recent Mario Movie at the time. I am assuming that Nintendo Europe Research & Development would be working on Luigi’s Mansion 1 HD (I believe they worked on 3D All-Stars and Pikmin 1+2), and those usually have really close announcements since they are usually just pretty basic ports/remasters.
I could see Luigi’s Mansion 1 being one of the 1st things Pyoro would talk about if it were to happen.

Pyoro would just put a picture of a haunted house with no other information and everyone would assume it just meant a segment on the second game. 😆
That said, I don't think there will be both games. If they had been a double pack it would have made sense, but seperate at the same time would just be odd.
@FishyS I would’ve appreciated a double pack, similar to Pikmin 1+2 (where they are both can also be purchased separately). I feel like both games HD bundled would be well worth the $60 price tag.
It’d be cool if they potentially bundled the trilogy for $120-130 as well.
I still think it’s possible for LM1 to get on Switch, however it is an odd choice that they didn’t just bundle the first 2 together.
@Anti-Matter I’d love to the see the whole trilogy on Switch, all 3 good games!
Ugh, so many games I want on Switch and I just KNOW none of them will happen...MAYBE Metroid Prime 2.
Come on Nintendo, Tomodachi Life 2/HD (...3....whatever), Metroid Prime 2 Remastered, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Rhythm Heaven, a new game, remake...a port, hell, a simple HD port of Fever I'd be fine with. Also Fortune Street but I know that's not happening at all, not even a port of the Wii game.
I'm now at the point where an update to NSO (more games announced), Metroid Prime 2 & hopefully 3, and Zelda HD remasters would be an almost perfect direct. I'm glad to have zero expectations for a Switch 2 announcement, really lowers the bar for what I am hoping for. It would be great if it comes next week.
@Novamii If Silksong isn't at Summer Game Fest or the Xbox Showcase, the Direct chat (not the one on Nintendo Life but like Youtube and Twitch) will be endless Silksong comments.
@Novamii
I remember years ago Reggie talking about how fans can never be satisfied. That no matter what they announce or release and even if they fully satisfy their demands that the very next day someone will say "but what about the next thing"
Nintendo could shadow drop Mother 3 on NSO today and tomorrow people would be on forums asking why it's locked behind NSO+. They could put it as a download outside of NSO and people would ask why it's not part of NSO. They could make it a free download and people would then ask "so when are we getting Mother 4?"

@Novamii I agree, I like knowing 1) that it will happen and 2) where it is focused, well in advance. It will make it more enjoyable for me. I think back over the past few years, where I hoped to hear about a Switch Pro and later the Switch 2 after so many incorrect "leaks" and every direct was a bit of a disappointment because what I wanted wasn't there. Now, I don't really have much that I want, so I can better enjoy whatever comes. @skywake - true, people will never be satisfied. I try not to be in that camp myself. That is why I have tried to stay away from rumors, so that I can better enjoy whatever comes.
Honestly, if the Direct has nothing I care about, I won’t be that mad considering TTYD is here. However, if there is just 1 thing at the Direct I want I will be very happy. Last September Direct was pretty much low/mid-tier until TTYD was announced, now it’s one of the best Directs in my opinion. Just one really good announcement is good for me!
There's been a fair amount of Directs that were so-so, but it was their opening segments and one-more-things that made the presentations! Though I won't lie and say I haven't been surprised by announcements in the middle.
I feel like the opening segments are often kind of dull — a lot of the time they are just DLC we already know about. The one more things are usually interesting of course, but otherwise it is the unexpected things in the middle for me, like the long segment of Mario games (including Peach!) in the middle of the June 2023 direct.
I'm excited no matter what - I'm ok with spending the next year getting to play some Switch treasures that I didn't have time for when they released, and if this Direct shows me anything cool, then that's pure bonus.
I'm most likely going to be spending the majority of 2024 diving into the retro catalogue (particularly with systems like PS2 and 3DS) so I haven't got much I'd necessarily want to see from the June Direct really. Only things I'd need to make me happy would be some more NSO announcements (please give me Zero Mission Nintendo I beg of you), a cool port of a under-represented gem (Kid Icarus Uprising, Punch Out Wii, etc.) and maybe a new entry in a series that hasn't had a brand new game in a while (cough cough Ace Attorney cough cough). Other than that though, I'm more than content to sit back and delve into the countless other games I've missed over the past 2-3 decades

I don't have too much I want from the direct. I would love Mario Wonder DLC, but I know that may be wishful thinking. I expect metroid prime 2 and some zelda remaster, but those aren't necessarily games I will buy. Kirby would always be fun. Honestly, mostly I want something unexpected.
I do need a game to spend my voucher on though.. I am going to really regret getting vouchers this year if there isn't another game I want. 😝
Was watching a Nintendo musics version of those "music quiz" videos which I dislike for existing but watch anyways. One song came up and I was suddenly struck with a realisation.... I really, really want to replay Twilight Princess on the Switch
Personal anecdote time, usually every year I take a couple of weeks leave around early August. I'm not one for big trips so it's usually a fairly small trip to just disconnect for a bit. And part of that involves playing whatever portable game just came out. 2020 I didn't take any leave because, well, 2020. So 2021 rolls around and I can go on leave which is great in and of itself but then... Skyward Sword HD in July. Perfect! That those two things landed like that, easily going to be one of my favourite memories for the Switch
So my real wish for this Direct is maybe a long shot and it's also something that I've said they won't do because Wind Waker is surely the better play. But if they were to drop Twilight Princess and make it a July release? That'd be the ideal scenario for me
..... but even if it's not that specifically hopefully there's something good in that July slot.... other than NWC...
@FishyS There used to be times where the opening segments were pretty surprising. We got Luigi's Mansion 3 announced in an opening of the same September direct that announced Animal Crossing for Nintendo Switch.

I know I’m late to the party on this topic but I’m terms of 3DS remakes, I could see Kirby Planet Robobot Deluxe happening. Not only do we know HAL is always working on on Kirby stuff, but RTDL Deluxe had a weird unlockable mask of Robobot’s main new character, Susie, in a vacation variant. It was the only design not seen in any existing games and especially weird because they could have easily gone with a mask for the existing character “Parallel Susie” instead. Perhaps she’ll get a mode in a Deluxe similar to the Magolor Epilogue where she takes a break from work after the events of the story and goes on her own adventure?
Ofc this is probably just wishful overthinking on my part, my username and pfp make it clear that I’m just a big fan of the game lol. Also I’ve seen the idea of Triple Deluxe and Robobot being ported as a double pack, but if they did that it’d probably have way less new content than RTDLDX so I hope not. Would be incredible if they glowed up and expanded both games and added multiplayer for one $60 price tag though
