@Agriculture Did you watch the same direct as me? A new Platinum title, a port of an amazing first party Microsoft game (I'm still shocked that Microsoft is officially publishing games on Switch outside of Minecraft), Mario Maker 2, Link's Awakening, Daemon Ex Machina Demo, Boxboy + Boxgirl, DQ XI localization...

I mean I get if you don't like any of those, but claiming they brought nothing to the table seems a bit overdramatic.

I will probably have to give some 2D and indie games a chance, I did like Axiom Verge on the Switch. That Platinum game seemed like it was over complicated though.

From this Direct, it seems that the first half of the year is mostly droughts and the 2nd half of the year is probably fantastic. I wish Nintendo used the same strategy as last year and just release lots of Wii U ports in the first half of the year.

this was a pretty good direct. although this probably means that we won't see Animal Crossing until E3 of this year.

My Highlight was Super Mario Maker 2, DxM, Fire Emblem and Dragon Quest 12.

Is there even anything left to port that doesn't cause problems for Nintendo? If they port 3D World it will be the lesser 3D Mario compared to Odyssey. The only game that is ripe for porting is probably Pikmin 3.

Anyway, when is the next one?

@Agriculture Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, the Zelda remasters, 3D World (disagree with your comment about it, they even chose 3D World as a new theme for Mario Maker 2), Xenoblade X and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. There's others I'd want but the ones I listed wouldn't interfere with other games.

Solid Direct. Fire Emblem Three Houses looks really really good. Astral Chain looks hella sick and is Switch exclusive! Hellblade was a very nice surprise. The orchestrated soundtrack in DQXIS is a megaton that I didn't see coming.

Link's Awakening though. I am so hyped for that!!!

I'd definitely buy 3D world, but Nintendo might be hesitant to release it, because it's not as advanced as Odyssey.

I don't really even want it, I just find it kinda amusing that leakers have lately been using it as their go to safe bet leak, and then it doesn't happen.

"It'll be revealed at the Game Awards!" Nope

"It'll be revealed shortly after the Metroid Prime 4 delay announcement!" Nope

"It'll be revealed in the next direct!" Nope

So, it's like back in 2016 when every leaker swore that Mother 3 was coming out in english for real this time

Well that was a beefy Direct. Astral Chain, Oninaki, and Super Mario Maker 2 were the highlights for me. Still, no Prime Trilogy though. But that's alright, there are plenty of other options.

I think it was one of the best Directs so far. A lot of cool games.

Definitely one of my favorite Directs. Assassin's Creed confirmed. FF IX is my favorite of the series. The Tetris battle royale finally had me pull the trigger on getting an Online sub. Astral Chain looks like a purchase. I liked Mario Maker on my Wii U, not sure if I'll go for the sequel, though... eh... who am I kidding, probably will. But I like playing levels more than making them.

But dang - remastered Link's Awakening. Better than expected. (Well - totally new 2D would have been the best, but gosh if this isn't nearly as good.)

I thought it was good. Had some stuff I was interested in; Starlink, DxM, Yoshi, Zelda, Tetris. The rest I didn’t care much for, but not all games are for me.

I expected to be disappointed given how optimistic these leaks were but to be honest only one big reveal. I can only assume they are saving the big guns for E3 since about all these games are coming in the next few months. Here's a few takeaways:

-Link's Awakening definitely seemed like it would have been a fit for the 3DS and since that's coming on the Switch...…….. RIP 3DS. I like it having Switch graphics and remastered cutscenes. I'm not complaining.

The Fire Emblem reveal kind of dragged on. Should have condensed the lore and have shown more gameplay. The gameplay from what I've seen looks pretty cool.

-Indie devs must love these directs. It's a great intro to lots of new games I haven't known about. Looks into the mechanics and I can easily find stuff I like. One big reason indies love Switch.

Illusion

Happy with more Starlink content and some demos for Daemon X Machina and Yoshi so I can see if I'd like to buy them.
Mostly a JRPG showoff though. Woulda liked a date for SNES Online, but obviously it'll just be September when everyone needs to renew their annual. (Probably for more $). Overall 2019 is looking pretty barren for me, a guy who generally doesn't enjoy RPGs or Puzzlers. Bought Iron Crypticle and waiting for Resident Evil.

Bolt_Strike

Another disappointing Direct. Mario Maker 2 was a nice surprise (albeit one spoiled a few days early), the rest was meh. And there's still so many games that we still know nothing about. Where's Pokemon? Where's Animal Crossing? Where's Luigi's Mansion? What are they doing to fill the gap left by Metroid Prime 4's delay? What are they doing with Switch Online? This Direct failed to answer most of the questions people have for this year's lineup. And what we actually did get was mainly generic anime RPG crap (seriously, anime RPGs are to Nintendo what FPS games are to Microsoft and Sony, they're so oversaturated). Almost makes you wonder if Nintendo's been sitting there twiddling their thumbs for the last 2 years.

Pretty good direct. It’s a shame that most people who buy Nintendo consoles only pay attention to the first party sequels and will dismiss anything else.

A very strong Direct. Absolutely jam packed. Mario Maker sequel, Zelda remake, a new IP (making two for this year), two DQ games, Tetris 99, Hellblade, a few other ports, 3 lots of DLC, Box boy, FFIX, the Yoshi demo, updates on MUA3 and Daemon x Machina.

As usual I didn’t get everything I wanted but they don’t make games just for me. That was seriously busy.
