I've had it for about a year & got it really for the online service with my animal crossing Nintendo switch game but was just wondering if it's worth renewing. Is there any benefits to it to make it worth while to keep? Just curious. Thank you in advance for any advice/ help~ ✌️

@Barbiegurl777 I only buy NSO subscription to play online games. So, I renew it. If you don't feel like renewing, you can always subscribe later. There's no penalty.
(Side note: Nintendo only holds onto your cloud saves for up to 180 days after your subscription ends.)
The only "benefits" being notable are just online play which is a given.
I personally couldn't care less about the NES and SNES games provided since half are either shovel you won't touch for more than 10min or games that have already been available on previous Nintendo consoles. Not to mention the inferior emulation to the free alternatives that have been available for years.
So if you frequently play online for me then sure keep your subscription, if not then I'd suggest you unsubscribe.
I'll say that if you're ever afraid of something happening to your Switch, the subscription might be worth it for the cloud saves alone (may not apply to certain games like Splatoon and Pokémon).
Why wouldn't it work for Splatoon & pokemon? Don't have either game for the switch but was thinking later to maybe getting them at some point... 🤔 Weird...

As long as Nintendo continue to offer occasional 7-day trials, I'm content with that.
If I were to pay money for NSO, really, the only thing I'd get out of it are custom icons/badges, and that alone isn't worth the cost. Hell, features like that should be standard.
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
So only cloud saves is the real benefits for NSW users in the END. So does this affect game transfers then of how does this affect if you don't have NSO?
Did it for two years. Let it lapse last year and haven’t missed it. I obviously don’t play online much and I own all the DLC. Might add it when they add Gameboy….
You mean for digital games though. Ones i have as cartridges not really worried. 🤷♀️ Going to try & go all physical with the game cartridges any more so. 🤷♀️

NSO is just straight up trash and its "features" are not enough for its monthly price. If the online service can't compare to a free service like Steam, it's not worth it.
Really Steam free, and you buy games on there and constant Internet of which you Pay a ISP to have is cheaper. Got some disconnected logic there. Might want to add your ISP subscription to your Steam and find the real price your paying.
I've spent hundreds of hours on the NSO apps, but that's because I have no other convenient and legal way to play most of those classic titles, and I had never played most of them. So there was a lot for me to dive into. In my situation, NSO is worth it.
But if you don't care about that and you're not playing anything online, then...
So the real benefits are for Cloud saves when transferring the system? Where you can backup the games to Cloud and redownload them back. So if you sell your Switch before transferring the data cloud to save that is where the real benefits are right? The thing here is if you have 4 accounts with saved data one will need to have a NSO to do Cloud backup and restore if that is the only Switch they have. And Does NSO Cloud update to another Switch if they have the same game account on the other Switch aka having two Switch it should update to the most current??
I see what your saying in your case. For I've played the majority of the games years ago there offering via virtual console nes, snes, n64. I played alot of those games back in the 90's & granted I liked them just don't feel the need to rebuy the virtual versions of games I used to own in cartridge to play 20 years later as virtual. Yeah the only game I was really playing online was animal crossing & I put that game away for a while to play other games temporarily speaking. 🤷♀️

@iLikeUrAttitude
To be fair regarding the retro games there are quite a few i would be willing to play if it wasnt for the fact that both the game and your saves are tied to an online service with no actual option to buy the games (and if they improved the emulation features since from what i tried i couldnt seem to find any option to change screen size, remove the border/button prompts or remap controls on a game by game basis like most retro collections offer), considering how much nintendo like to reference and pay tribute to their older games in newer titles it feels odd how they handle their actual legacy content on switch.
at this point for me i would say that the base NSO is worth it but thats mainly just because you need it for level sharing in mario maker so yeah i would say to TC that it depends on how often you play games with online features, in my case its needed because i play and upload levels on mario maker 2 a lot.
