The land players will explore is known as Anthos, and is home to the Harvest Sprites, spirits that protect people and nature, as well as the goddess of nature known as the Harvest Goddess. However, about 10 years ago, an unprecedented eruption in Anthos’s volcanic region forced the Harvest Goddess and her Harvest Sprites to use all their powers to protect the people. I still disappointed by one thing from that game.
Why still using visual novel style to display the conversations ?
Can't just they have natural conversations like Story of Seasons ?
@Anti-Matter I not sure what you mean, both series use similar styles to display conversations
It most likely means that each town has a different season schedule, like for example while one town might go through normal seasons, another town might be stuck in winter most of the time. Not that they all have their own unique season.
@Eel
I mean like this.
Some of Story of Seasons games didn't use visual novel style to show the conversations, for example like Tree of Tranquility, Pioneers of Olive Town.
So when you talk with the characters, you can see directly their face and their expression.
The visual novel style by displaying two characters on the right and left while the background get blurred, it was something that I don't really like to see the conversation in games.
@Anti-Matter it’s just the style they’ve always used in Natsume’s games. They do it like that to better display the characters emoting.
I actually see people complaining about the other style more often than not. People generally seem to prefer having the characters next to the text box.
It seems natsume confirmed via a random Facebook message that the player will be able to marry any of the 10 bachelors and bachelorettes, regardless of gender, which is a first for the series.
@Eel
10 bachelors??
Oh, boy. Better from 10 dudes candidates, there are at least 3 dudes with great looking for my taste.
I'm not a fan of weirdo looking characters to be my virtual husband.
I really hope the Harvest Sprite design for Wind of Anthos is not the same Teletubbies style design again.
Also, looking from graphic detail, looks like the game used Unity engine.
I really don't have a lot of confidence in this game being good. One World was, imho, a let down. But time will tell. Natsume just can't seem to get a handle as to what players want.
@Eel
I spotted the other bachelor candidates from that latest trailer.
Probably the guy with blonde hair and riding horse and the other one the darker skinned guy during festival event.
@Eel
I think Marvelous should be aware with this Harvest Moon as last time Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town was not really good in term of the maker machines and the mediocre of peoples social interactions.
I wonder how will the next Story of Seasons by Marvelous compete with this Harvest Moon after we saw the latest trailer of new Story of Seasons games from Marvelous games showcase.
@Anti-Matter we can only hope it will provide as much substance as graphics. It can be easy for a dev to focus too much in showcasing great graphics, at the expense of user experience.
And the series has never really been about the graphics, so I hope they manage to balance that.
I have a hunch that a lot of people (me included) just want them to move away from the mobile-looking graphics. I know, I know - I hated when people kept using that term for the Mineral Town remake, but I've poured dozens and dozens of hours into that remake, and I love it, but when it comes to the graphics, that term is pretty much true. And to a certain degree, yea, those graphics rub off on you even if the gameplay loop is solid, especially in a genre where the action is relatively slow and players typically put in hundreds of hours, the graphics are a huge factor and have nowhere to hide.
I just want something more personal-feeling. Stardew Valley nailed it, and that was mostly hearkening back to the original Harvest Moon aesthetic. I just want more detail. I think more natural, hand-drawn visuals simply lend themselves well to down-to-earth farming games.
Look at the thumbnail for the Youtube trailer. Man, I wish the graphics looked like THAT.
