Topic: Splatoon 4- Hopes, Theories and Predictions

Coming back to this, I said March because that’s when Mario’s 40th anniversary is. The Mario Splatfest in 2021 happened on January during the Mario 35th campaign.

And then there are 2 anniversaries related to Splatoon this year: One for Splatoon 3 in September, and then one in May for the franchise as a whole. Not sure which one out of two they want to do, but if they want to make a while Splatoon 10th anniversary campaign, it would have to start sometime this year, especially if it includes a Splatfest to go with it.

I hope it gets announced not too far into the Switch 2 because I will not be getting one until the Splatoon 4 special edition.

Anyone wanting to see Switch 2 Joy-Cons themed on the idol groups?

When I thought of these it was easy for Squid Sisters and Off the Hook since both groups are duos, but since Deep Cut is a trio, I’m not sure how I could fit colors that represent three characters into two controllers. That’s why I couldn’t list Deep Cut here. For now it’s just Squid Sisters and Off the Hook.

Now that I think of it, this could actually be a great tie-in during the Splatoon 10th anniversary campaign.

One idea I've been thinking of is a grand turf war mode for the next game. Larger stages, utilising big bubblers as command posts. So sort of a combination of turf war and splat zones, except the team who controls a zone is now able to super jump to it. Such larger maps would only work if the player count was increased, which I'm not sure Nintendo would ever do.

But, such large maps would make for a great alternative to the tri-colors should there be four options in Splatfests. Four teams facing off against each other. Or it could just be a standard/ranked mode, since there's trouble already when one team barely has enough votes in current Splatfests.

@DarkRula Not a bad concept honestly. I kind of love that command post idea. I would love a Splatoon game mode like that with a higher focus on strategy. I'm also a fan of the four way battle idea for Splatfest, though they would probably need maps specifically designed around that.

@Bigmanfan Thanks! And yeah, the maps would need to be designed in such a way that any one team didn't have an advantage over the others. I'm sure the developers could do it, but there's always a fear that needing such symmetry across four zones will negatively affect map quality.

Evidence Marina and Acht are siblings (or at least related):

1. They knew each other from before Acht was sanitized and seem really close

Based on the dialogue in the game and the relationship they have with each other they seem really close. I highly doubt they were just friends from school, their relationship is very similar to how I see a lot of siblings act (Light teasing, remembering past events, ect.). My guess is that Marina is the older sibling and Acht is the younger one.

2. Physical similarities

Both Octoling girls feature long tentacles as hair (Much longer than any other octoling we’ve seen so far.) With the right side being longer and the tips a different color. The most pressing detail though is Acht’s eyes. I don’t think it was just a coincidence that at the climax of the “final” battle is when they choose to reveal her eyes. It HAS to be important. Even in all her concept art it shows her having a sideways 8 shaped iris. Who else do we know who has 8 eyes? Marina Ida. Also it’s important to point out that the only other pair of cousins in the game (Callie and Marie) also have the same shaped Iris *A 4-point star

3. Common interests

This probably isn’t the case for all siblings but from my personal experience (I’m a middle child so I got both sides) the younger sibling often copies what the older sibling does as a way to connect with them in a way. For example I got into doing art because my sister liked to do it and my brother got into Pro wrestling and video games because I enjoyed it. In the lore it’s clear that Acht is incredibly smart and a great DJ (despite being called a delinquent by her superiors) so I believe that after Marina deserted the Octarian army as a way to cope Acht may have also gotten into DJing as a way to feel connected with her.

I'd like to see a titled name, these number sequels feel overused.

@Gamergirl4 I feel like that has some merit however I think that if they were siblings that would have been a plot point they included (maybe it was cut). I feel it is unlikely that these characters will reprise their roles as dlc campaign characters for a third game so I think they left it all out there with side order. I hope they get the squid sisters treatment and continue to return however now that that have to juggle Deep Cut it’s extremely unlikely.

@Dev-N I could see them doing something clever with “Splatoon 4ever” to fit with the past theme the game will have because of the splatfest results

@Dev-N Numbered direct sequel type games tend to turn away//stall newer players. I've met a lot of people who haven't played 3 because they said they haven't played the first 2 games or they're stuck on 2 and think it's the same thing. Splatoon needs to be "fresh".

Let's take a vote: Will we ever get male (Inkling/octoling) idols? And if so how many ppl will simp for them?

My theory is we’re going to get a boy band… I hope I’m wrong.

I think a Splatoon racing mode could be fun. Use Ink weapons on your vehicle to slow down rival racers or build Ink trails to boost teammates. Something definitively new to shake things up.

I’m taken a stance I won’t purchase another splatoon until they have some sort of true local co-op mode.

Alr so I've 100% completed side order and I think Imma have to scrap this theory. If you finish Agent 8's pallet then you get to see Acht before sanitization and while the two still do share similarities they only have their hair colors (Even then it's purple and seafoam blue) in common. Maybe it's just distant colors? They may just be friends but it was fun to make this theory!

So what if for Splatoon 4 we have all the regular modes, but then have a sort of battle royale mode, but instead of eliminating people, you have like 12 players all trying to paint the most.
