Topic: "Braid Anniversary Edition" Switch Port Cancelled?

From IGN:

Braid, considered by many to be one of the greatest indie games of all time, is set for an Anniversary Edition on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, PC, and Netflix on April 30, 2024. A Mac and Linux release is due out later.

I have been wanting to play this ever since I saw Indie Game: The Movie over a decade ago (the other 2 games featured, Super Meat Boy and Fez are already on Switch). It seems a bit mad not to put it on Switch, so hopefully this is an oversight, or a later release date will be announced?

Confirmation that there is no Switch version coming from the developer's own trailer:

I mean, I guess I understand. It's not as if Switch gamers like indie games, or as if the platform has been known for the meteoric rise of specific ones...

Just to add a little bit more insult-to-injury, Braid's also coming to goddamn Netflix before Switch.

There is still a chance that it's announcement is being saved for an Indie Showcase presentation, perhaps?

Sorry, but the princess is in another console.

You can consider the other console version to play that game.

I've been wqnting to play this for a while now... but alas, it was not to be. perhaps a Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase could fix this...?

Just get it on another platform people. It's your own accountability if you only have a Switch, so why make this difficult for yourself?

That's like saying: "So the corner store on your block closed down. So what? There is another one a mile down the road."

Yes, but it's less convenient.

An accurate analogy of this thread is you have a favorite store that you go to because you're able to buy certain products that you like, but it doesn't have everything. Yet, you refuse to go to other stores nearby because you want to buy it at your preferred store instead.

That seems like a reasonable thing to be disappointed by if your favourite store is more convenient for you to go to and it could easily stock the product you're looking for but doesn't.

I'd prefer to get it on Switch because that's my go-to platform for smaller-scale and indie games, but that said, more than happy to get it on PS5 to enjoy the stunning visuals at their best.

@Link-Hero I think that may be a bit of an overreaction to people being disappointed that the Switch release of a game has seemingly been silently cancelled three years after being announced. It's not selfish to expect a publisher to publish the game they said they were going to publish.

As others have said, it definitely could still turn up in a Nindie showcase - that's happened before with games that were initially announced for everything but Switch.

It's kind of weird that they held it back for a 'surprise, it's coming to Switch as well!' moment instead of just including Switch in the trailer, when it was already announced for Switch three years ago. But anyway, I'm just glad that us greedy and selfish Switch owners are still getting the game.
