@Dogorilla Agreed. I could actually use some of the Wii U VC discounts still. There are a small handful of Nintendo games I need to grab before the service inevitably shuts down. I obtained a decent amount of VC games on discount, as well as the excellent Metroid Prime Trilogy.
I've always been mildly interested in Pocket Card Jockey, but I've never been amazing at card games. The game seemed a little too reliant on the touch screen for my comfort.
You've also reminded me that I haven't redeemed a discount for Mario & Luigi: Dream Team that expires at the end of next month.
Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)
@Tyranexx Yeah there are still a few eShop games and quite a lot of VC games I want to get on Wii U. VC games are a bit of a dilemma though because they might end up on Switch Online soon, and then it wouldn't really be worth paying for all the games individually, but on the other hand it's nice to own them permanently rather than just on a subscription service.
Personally I don't have a problem with using the touch screen so I really like Pocket Card Jockey. It can be frustrating though because some of the harder races seem to be practically impossible to win first time. You need to keep training up your horses then breeding them, and rinse and repeat until you've got one with good enough stats to win the race. I enjoy the game enough that I don't mind that too much because training the horses basically just involves doing lots of races, which is pretty fun, but it definitely gets repetitive and it can be annoying to spend time playing the game only to feel like you haven't really made any progress. That said, I would still recommend it in general, although if you don't like card games or using the touch screen then it may not be for you.
@BabyYoshi12 If you still have a Wii U there's not really much reason to get NSMBU on Switch, since the Wii U version is much cheaper and there's not much difference in the amount of content as far as I can tell. Even if you don't have a Wii U though, I'd recommend Smash Ultimate over NSMBU; the latter is a great platformer but Ultimate is brilliant and you'll be playing it for years.
@BabyYoshi12 If you want to try out a smash game you could always download the demo for the previous games (3DS and Wii U) and if you like it then you should buy Ultimate.

@BabyYoshi12 I don't know, I only have the Wii U version. I can't see any reason why they'd be different though. The original game uses gyro controls for the occasional gimmick, and I don't know if those have been altered at all for the Switch version, but otherwise the game just uses normal button controls so they're probably more or less the same on both consoles.
@Dogorilla Good point on the VC games; I may hold off on picking up a few in that case, primarily those that were on the SNES. There are a few GBA and N64 games I'd also like to grab, as well as a DS game (Specifically Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time); I don't suspect those will make it to NSO anytime soon. While retro games are a nice perk of NSO, I still prefer to permanently buy them in many cases.
Thanks for the feedback on Pocket Card Jockey; it does sound like a fun game, though I think the repetition and the lack of any meaningful progress during some sessions would get to me after awhile.

@BabyYoshi12 I don’t know if you’ve made your decision or not, but if you know you like Smash than I’m sure you’d like it. But if you want a platformer. Like a good platformer, than I’d get NSMBU. It’s a pretty fun game.
I only recently found out that points could be claimed for physical copies of games - and I have a lot of them. Not sure if I missed something along the way, it just wasn't properly explained, or it wasn't explained at all, but the only reason I found out was because I watched a video about different tips and tricks of the Switch.
Given points on games can only be claimed within a year of its release, I had many, many games that I couldn't claim which I was a bit pissed off about. But still plenty I could claim.
Be interested to know how long it look everyone else to wise-up to this 'trick'..
Wait, gold points go to physical too? Since when? I have got to try that sometime. I love getting physical games unless I have to go more out of my way to get them than usual. Case-and-Point: 3D All-Stars.
@Apportal Gold points do apply to physical purchases as long as they're redeemed within a year of the game's launch (not from when you buy it unfortunately). The downside for those who prefer physical is because they earn less coins than the digital purchases.

@Tendo64 My Nintendo gold points for physical games aren't talked about much. It's understandable if you didn't see anything about it. You can buy & set up a Switch and never see it mentioned, or it can easily fly under the radar. But they add up. Every once in a while, I have $10 worth, and use them.
@Northwind I let my points collect until I have $10-15 and buy a cheap game with it. I got Untitled Goose Game & A Short Hike with gold points.
Yeah, you get 1% on physical games and 5% on digital. I love gold points, I got $5 off on BotW and Three Houses DLC and also got Manticore Galaxy on Fire and DOOM 64 for free.

I've never got up to $10-15 with it, I usually only go up to $3-6. I just use the gold points in whatever game I buy next. I find them pretty useless tbh.
