Topic: The My Nintendo Gold Points Thread

What games have you bought with your My Nintendo gold points? I have about $12 worth of, I’m wondering what game I should buy....

P.S. The main My Nintendo thread has been inactive for a while, and there isn’t one dedicated to what games you bought with gold points, so I though I’d make one.

I just use whatever points I have each time I buy something from the eShop. Don't really see any point in saving them up.

Since they do expire, it generally makes sense to just use however many you have every time .....

@BruceCM That's part of why I do it too. For my main account it doesn't really matter as I'm buying games pretty much weekly but I have three other accounts and I don't want to risk them expiring on any of those if I don't buy a game for a while.

Yeah, not really like there's a good reason to keep the points, usually, either, @BenAV ....

@BruceCM Nope. Ends up saving the same amount in the end either way.

@BenAV I normally save up to get a big game instead of just buying small games.

I personally just use them for whatever game I get next. But, I do use some for DLC or $1 or less games, even if I don’t like them.

@BabyYoshi12 If you log in to my.nintendo.com and click on 'Your Points' down the bottom and then click the 'Expiry' tab, it'll show you how many points expire at the end of the month for the next six months.

Heh, if you just spend them, you don't have to worry about that .....

I always check to see how many I have expiring each month, and then I spend that much on any games I want that are on sale. I try not to buy any new games unless it's one I really want and it's on a really good sale, so doing it this way rather than spending all that I have allows me to get some more that I wouldn't get if I didn't have any gold coins to spend.

I don't care about my platinum point totals these days, but I do still keep tabs on my gold points. I typically don't buy any digital games unless there's a really good sale going on (or if my backlog looks too horrifying), so those points expiring is a slight possibility.

My Nintendo is better than nothing, and I've reaped some benefit from it (at least when the Virtual Console options were better, mainly before they dropped all Wii U support), but it could be SO much better.

I basically just use them to cancel out the tax on whatever I'm buying.

I Will say they are handy as there is alot of games for sale for 1 euro.

I normally only use them for DLC or indie games who don’t sell the game as a code.

I usually use mine to buy cheap games on sale or dlc on sale (Most of the time smash mii costumes)

I've started taking advantage of the My Nintendo discounts on 3DS eShop games that I don't already have, because those will probably never go on sale again in the normal sense. This has led me to discover Pocket Card Jockey, which I probably never would have bought otherwise but it's a great little game. I wish they were still offering Wii U discounts as well though.
