Whats it about?

All you have to know why it is not going to be that great is the fact that it is a fairy tale setting, female protagonist, female director. That doesn't sound like the quality Pixar movie I'm looking for. On the bright side though Monster's Inc 2 is also coming in 2012.

I'm not excited for that. These sequels to movies that feel like they have a proper closing is really turning me away from Pixar. :/

Why don't you tell Dreamworks that, too because they also don't seem to realize what movies need a sequal and what don't. Namely how they are making Kung Fu Panda 2, How to Train a Dragon 2, and Madagascar 3.

I'm a guy too, but I don't think you should be sexist and write off a movie just because the director is female. Girls can write good stories too (i.e. J.K. Rowling, who wrote the Harry Potter books). I'm not saying that means this movie is going to be great and that I support it, because I haven't heard about it at all until now. I'm not even a girl. Just don't be so sexist.

I'm pretty okay.

Yeah, I sort of agree on that. The Toy Story movies all worked out great, IMO (although there should not be a Toy Story 4, even though Toy Story is awesome), but Cars doesn't seem like it needs a sequel. Never seen Monsters Inc. so I don't know if a sequel seems necessary, but the fact that as of 2009 Pixar had only made one sequel, ever, and now, by the end of 2012, they'll have made 4, is a bit troubling.

Then again, Dreamworks is far worse with this. They've made 4 Shreks and have a spin-off in the works. They're in the process of making a third Madagascar, and a second Kung Fu Panda and How To Train Your Dragon.

I am also hating all these sequels. I know that they're movies are so dang popular and the kids want more, but that doesn't mean they'll get the same success twice, thrice or more. Just look at Dreamworks. Ever since Shrek became a hit, they made 3 sequels that got progressively worse as time moved on. Put Shrek and Shrek 4 in comparison and Shrek wins, no contest.

To be fair, the last Shrek was better received than the third one. I'm actually looking forward to the Puss In Boots movie, but Dreamworks best movies are usually adaptations (i.e. Over The Hedge, Wallace & Gromit, Dragon). Tintin is something i'm really hoping turns out great. :3

Edit: @SuperMarioFan96: You should watch it. It had one of the best closings to a Pixar movie. Having a sequel would be terrible.

I agree. Having a sequel to Monsters Inc. will seem appropriate and totally ruin the ending at the same time. But ruin the ending more.

Don't hate me for saying this, but I might be the only one interested in seeing Monsters, Inc. 2. I want to see more of the "Laugh Floor" and a new possible threat for the factory.

I'm back (for the moment)!

I'm only worried about Brave because I'm not a big fan of fairytales, but its Pixar, so its bound to be good.

That I wouldn't mind. It's the idea they'd likely include an older Boo that upsets me.

I would love to see a new "Incredibles" movie, but that might be hard, seeing how the events with The Underminer were the subject to the Rise of the Underminer video game (not that I played it, which I didn't).

That game pretty much was the spiritual sequal to the movie. The problem with a real sequal though is the fact that the voice actors that played the kids in the movie were actually kids and are now 6 years older then they were when making the movie meaning they don't sound like kids anymore.

Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer was a really simple platformer that shifted from 2D to 3D at certain times. Yet it still appealed to me and my Dad with co-op and decent replayability. You guys should dig through bargain bins sometime. Never know what you'll find

@labrat I remember renting it. I don't remember much else, though.

I'm not trying to be sexist my point was (it wasn't very clear) that these are all new things for Pixar. But there is also a good chance this will appeal more to females. It also isn't very original for Pixar either counting the fact that Disney (without Pixar) is making a CGI movie in a fairy tale setting called Tangled. (may have heard the name from this years E3)

From what I understand, Brave is an original story, whereas Tangled is a retelling (rehash) of Rapunzel.

I know but still I don't care for the fairy tale setting unlessed used in the style of Shrek movies where they make fun of them.
