Topic: Old Pokemon Games?

Has there been any talk of putting Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow, Gold/Silver/Crystal or any other previous generation of Pokemon games on the 3DS eshop? I feel like this would be a great idea seeing the recent release of Pokemon X and Y. Could be good money for Nintendo, what do you guys think? Would you get them?

I think they would do the GBA and DS remakes, which fix a lot of problems, and the Pokemon Bankcould fix some of the transfering issues. I would like to see it happen

That'd be interesting, although I'm not sure I'd pay full retail for all those games, maybe if they could put them all together and release them as some sort of bundle. I would also like to see them release the originals on the virtual console.

Would you buy them at Virtual Console prices? $10-ish GBA and $15-ish DS? (Might be a little more I don't know if VC prices have been announced for those systems)

I'd like RBY/GSC to be available, but of course due to the changes from gen II to III means there could be no transferring. That was in my opinion the worst thing the pokemon franchise ever did and if they ever not allow transfers to the newest generation, I'll never play pokemon again. Honestly, the transferring of old pokes is the only reason I even played Black and White and X.

See I wouldn't really mind not being able to trade them from the game, I'd more or less like to play them for nostalgia purposes. So if they were reasonably priced then I'd pay money for them on the 3DS I'd definitely go for a purchase.

I like restarting each game with new pokes anyway. I'd love to relive the original R/B on the virtual console.

I've never played a pokemon game, mainly because I've always felt like I'd be missing something by not starting at the beginning. So I'd definitely give the GB originals a whirl if they ever showed up on the Virtual Console.

I really want nintendo to put all the pokemon games up to emerald on the eshop. It would be so much better just to return to your childhood and have a good old dose of naustalgia.

I get the occasional nostalgic craving to boot up the original GB Red and Blue - even just to play through the opening hour or so (although at one point last year I blasted through it in a day in under 12 hours only ever fighting with my starter which was awesome), so I might be tempted by a 3DS VC release - obviously FireRed and LeafGreen would make more sense though.

I'd rather played an updated version. The originals are horribly outdated

I see no reason why they couldn't put on the VC shop Pokemon Card Game from the GBC and its sequel that I believe was translated but just never sold in the US.

Yeah I still find it completely baffling that Nintendo STILL hasn't released these on the 3ds Eshop. Seems like a no-brainer.

I like the music in old Pokémon games better! nowadays it's just common music, nothing really memorable.....

I would like the spin-offs like Pokemon Puzzle Challenge more then the main series for the VC.
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug but the speed and convenience of modern day Pokemon makes the gb versions look like a typewriter to a laptop. To each his/her own I guess.

Not really. Making a "VC" game would make it impossible to collect all 150

So lets get this straight.. gamefreak is making an excuse saying we can't transfer anything between different consoles like this.. but we had pokemon colloseum and XD transfering to the GBA games as well as vice versa.. If they could add WI-FI to wind waker.. then they can make remakes of RSE as well as the gamecube games and transfer from there as well as have something linked on a website using Wi-Fi..

Look at battle revolution.. we were more than capable of recieve mystery gift pokemon and items to the gen 4 games.. Sure there was no trading and all the pokemon in BR were just copies of the ones in your ds games.. but thats just a small mechanic they could dramaticly change with ease.

We transfered pokes from GBA games to the NGC..
We transfered pokes from the ds games to a wii game.. as well as recieved mystery gifts and more items indicating it could communicate back with the ds.
We should be able to transfer pokes from a 3DS to a Wii U game.. are they trying to say our technology decreased and limited this ability when it was more than capable in the past? I THINK NOT!

However.. I wouldn't count on a red/yellow/blue remakes as they kinda did that already with leafgreen/firered.. as well as with gold, crystal, and silver being soulsilver and heartgold.. but gen 3 is still awaiting.. and it's too soon for gen 4 or 5.

My point is.. if they added WI-FI to a classic game a.k.a. loz wind waker than they can do the same to pokemon with ease..

They're probably refering to the Link Cable support. Don't forget, the point of VC to Nintendo is that they require little to no effort. They're not about to spend the time making the old school Pokemon available if it actually requires effort. It's the sad truth.
