Topic: Endless runner type games ...

I was searching for to see what endless runner games were on the e-shop, but I guess NL doesn't consider it a genre ...

So far I have Goony & Rising Board 3D ... what are some others (DSi or 3DS) that are worth a look? Any that should absolutely be avoided?

Thanks in advance for sharing your opinions.

Before zerk says it, Bird Mania 3D.

A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs. It's jolted by every pebble on the road.

Yes! Nothing but good times there with Bird Mania 3D.

OK.

I Must Run! is a runner type game for DSiWare. It was originally dev'd for iPhone but it made it's way on over to Nintendo. I have a love/hate relationship with I Must Run! as the difficulty is very frustrating and, overall, it's not that fun. But, it is an endless runner game and since I can't go with my beloved Bird Mania, I recommend IMR!

Blathers

Avoid Bearshark.

Stay safe, kids: Make sure to save frequently during multiplayer, and always use a stylus!

Knuckles

Speed X 3D, and its counterpart, Hyper Edition, are both endless tunnel runners. Both are good, and are each under $5.
I Must Run!! is a shameless Canabalt clone, and is well worth the $2 dollars.

Appreciate all the suggestions guys, thanks.

VVVVVV has an unlockable endless runner mode (it's brutal though. Seriously, it's so difficult that you get achievements for lasting 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 15 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds, and a whopping whole minute).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Art Style Precipice is fun. Even though its not an endless runner, its still endless and quick on your feet. However as I said before its not specifically what you asked. Its technically a puzzle game.

That's still cool to know ... even though I said "runner" in my question post, pretty much any game w/an endless mode could be of interest. Thanks for the suggestion and fell free to suggest any more, even if the genre is blurred.

Sounds painful if NL's 1/10 score is anything to go by ... still, I actually read a a favorable review of it on another Nintendo site. And it wouldn't be the first time I enjoyed a game that NL trashed ... I recently reviewed a game that I scored a 7/10 ... NL gave it a 1/10.

Why do you think it's so terrible? I admit it doesn't sound the best from what I've read ... but I am slightly swayed in that it seems to offer a fairly strong audio/video package. Plus, I'm a sucker for budget downloads, and I tend to be more forgiving if the price is right.

In my opinion, except for Bit Trip Runner of course, this is the only genre that actually works perfectly fine on the phones, and I don't really want to see these games on the 3DS. I can't even play them anymore... Runner is an exception because it's brilliant. [I guess Runner is not endless].

It's a genre that was born on iOS devices; one which acts to kill short periods of time. That alone should be explanation as to why most eShop developers tend to make more complex games instead. But yes, there's always Bird Mania 3D.

The hazards are the same colour as the backgrounds, the guy controls very losely, the gameplay isn't responsive or intuitive, each of the few backgrounds are merely the same image flipped and repeated. It's playable, but barely. 3/10.
I have gone back to it a few times, but it certainly doesn't keep you playing, unlike Bird Mania.
