Is anyone else having issues with there switch battery precents. My switch will shut itself off when it reaches around 19-16% battery life an bring up the battery symbol I'm able to turn it back on for a couple of seconds before it does it again. It's only just started doing this and it's done it the past 3 times, I'm unsure if it's firmware fault or a battery issue ???

It's actually not incorrect. Nintendo did this so that the progress you've made wont get deleted.
If it just randomly shut down mid game, it could've caused consequences.
But tbh instead of having it go to sleep at 16% it should have been around 3-5%.

Having done a few test today the battery lasts the expected 3 hours for zeld botw, intially I wouldnt shut down till 1%. I now believe this is a software issue, it's just annoying say I get no low battery warning it just shuts down.

I have exactly the same problem but my system turns off at 40% , also BOTW last the expected 3 hours so I believe that it is a display error and I strongly think it's a firmware bug.

@Miguelg17 I think it's a glitch too! I bought my nintendo Switch on launch day. Everything was fine until a week and a half later. I would always leave it charging in the dock over night so it would be fully charged at 100% in the morning. I'd turn it off (not sleep mode) put it in my protective pouch and go to work. A few hours later I'm taking a break, turn on my switch and notice the percentage has dropped to 70%. My switch wasn't displaying the right battery life. I kept having the same problem the following days. So I called nintendo told them my problem and sent the console in for repair. When I got my console back I received a replacement. I was happy... for about 2 weeks. Now I'm having the same issue as before

When you guys do this, did you use the Joy Cons used seperate from the Switch for a while and connected it after the undocking? If so, they charge (even if you have the Switch turned off) from the Switch's battery. This is what happens and drains the battery. Makes sense...

the joycon's don't drain over 30% battery instantly by just switching off the console (not sleep mode) and turning it back on.
That is the problem. The Switch seems to have an issue with holding the accurate charge state of the battery when completely shutting down the Switch console and turning it back online.

In sleep mode this is not a problem, only when completely powering off the console.

During my tests I could continue playing almost one and half hour with battery showing 1% !

@Koldur Battery percentage is still shown wrong even if the joycons arent used before undocking the tablet. What happens to me, when the console reaches 15%, I turn it off and then turn it back on about 30 mins later the percentage goes back up to about 30%. I can do this about 3 or 4 times on the same charge.

Im having a similar problem with my Switchs battery percentage indicator. I play ZELDA from %100 then an hour and a half later it says %1 but you know theres at least half the battery life left. HERES THE SOLUTION: Dont turn the screen off because it may force sleep mode just keep playing or let it sit while on until the battery dies on its own. Keep in mind this may take a couple more hours. Then once the battery is genuinely out of juice charge it completely and now it should return to normal full cycle tapering of battery life. My belief is that if your playing handheld and then docking often without running the battery full cycle it seems to keep a false memory of the battery life.

Same thing happens to me too. Switch gets fully charged as well to 100%, both on dock or without. Then after I power it off and turn it on an hour or so later, I'll have like 80% battery. Then I'll play til it hits about 50% and turn it off, and sometimes it rises to like 56%. I can play a full 3ish hours though, and the sleep mode is amazing. In sleep mode, it loses around 1-2% every 8 hours or so. But when it's off, the battery drains. So this isn't a hardware defect, is it? You guys think a firmware update could fix this issue no problem?

Damn. 2020 and I have this problem now. Did anyone ever fix this by resetting stats etc?

@WoomyNNYes Yeah, buddy, just went through that and following the steps. Thanks. Hope it works! I don't mind the time it takes. I can't find a battery replacement in my country so it's a scary situation.

That low percentage is the same for Smartphone as well they will auto power off to save the battery and any information from being lost. If you follow the link they have a final contact with Nintendo Support. Beyond that there is nothing more anyone else on here can help with.
