Man, how many of these do they have? With 1,426 units sold in a matter of hours they have to be running out soon. I had a hard time finding my WW HD bundle months ago guess I should of checked newegg.

But somethings I would like to see to help build it's case. 1)The range increased for off screen play. 2) Vibrate notifications in addition to blue ring 3) Apps Facebook, twitter, google voice, seamless, pizzahut (come on reggie used to be the CEO), metacritic, yelp, allmusic, pandora 4) 3DS/DS adapter

@Ren DK is a huge series and the pre-orders alone for this game should tell you this is indeed a head turner. With a month away it's nearing 100k day one sales. I can tell you this game is one of the reasons I bought the Wii U in the first place.

@WaveBoy Sure mario 3d world didn't move 1mil units it's first week but it is currently the best selling Wii U game that wasn't bundled with the system. Even taking into account the bundled games it's in third place overall after only being out for a little over a couple months. But your right there was allot of click bait doom and gloom articles comparing numbers from past marios but the install base for the Wii U is still growing and incrementally so have to mario 3d sales. Much like DK, mario 3d is really making the Wii U worth having and it will sell a sh!t load for years to come. These games are masterpeices in my eyes.

@unrandomsam Don't really see that happening that's the core of DK games the challenge. Retro realizes that and Nintendo. Also don't see it having any benefits marketing/sales wise if it were nerfed.

@Ren Interesting assessment on a game you haven't played, youtube videos really are just all you need to fully judge a game huh? I never knew Ren was such a seasoned analyst and strategist for the video game industry.

@JaxonH @WaveBoy Further more those numbers don't include digital purchases. And I know for a fact allot of people prefer downloads to physical discs. So add hundreds of thousands to those totals.

One of the reasons I bought my Wii U, these games have a special place in my heart. I bet this does 125k+ the first few days of release.

@Henmii Money for development/porting isn't refundable. And it's around 1.5mil to port a game from what I've read so why would they not want to make there money back? It would make zero sense at this point in the game to cancel it. They just need to convince a quarter of 5+ million Wii U owners there game is worth buying and they made there 1.5mil back. I know I'm excited about it and I'm not usually really into these sort of games.

Let's put this into perspective, with just a little hype and mis info. Watch Dogs Wii U has climbed past Mario Cart, Smash Bros., Bayonetta 2, and almost passed DK on the pre sale charts today. I don't know how many pre-orders were made today but it took a 1,007% jump according to amazon. Further more it is currently #9 in the top 10 Movers & Shakers. It's the only console game in this top 10, the rest are PC games. UBI I hope your paying attention!

Watch Dogs wii u just jumped from 5,744 to 352 on amazon. Seems this has worked out to be some very positive pre-order hype for the game.

Still haven't heard from amazon about my pre-order, I'll believe it when I read the email. With all the click bait and bs floating around who really knows any more?

EA needs to hire a new PR team. As it stands worst game company of the decade. They could easily release a couple eShop only games and make cash off of them, except they make horrible games and nobody wants them.

Just played the demo of the latest in the series. This game is nuts. I'm really interested in picking one up. Which should I start with or Wait for the prof. layton team up?

Yes and no, I think the idea of the system seller is sort of a myth. But what these numbers and upcoming games mean is there is climbing confidence in the Wii U as a investment and console. The Wii U had 5 of the top games in the top 10 best selling games of '13. People bought allot of those games on there old consoles mostly because Nintendo did not just have to convince people to buy a Wii U in '13 but be the hype machine for this new generation of consoles. I think any console in the Wii U's position at the end of '12 would have preformed weak. Fast forward to the Xbone vs Wii U vs PS4 hype and showdown of '13 as annoying as it is, has broke the ice. Now everybody knows, the 8th gen is here. And it's something I don't really think any one console could have accomplished with the gaming market so spread out over tablets, phones, handhelds, PCs, and 7th gen consoles. I'm looking forward to a full year of great Wii U retail and eShop games. Also as much as the clickbait nintendoom sayers are negative everybody now knows the Wii U is a new console by Nintendo and it needs support. The cliche any publicity is good publicity remains true even in 2014. Excuse me while I go play some punchout.

Looks really strange, been wondering about the game play and story thanks for the review. It was really helpful. I'm going to pick it up this week.

Yeaahh and statistically the iOS (as a gaming) platform was supposed to kill the 3DS. It was supported and covered by news sites even Nintendo fan sites. Correct me if I'm wrong but the turn around happened just short of a year and was shocked back to life with amazing games.

I bought 9 Wii U games this month and I've bought every member of my extended family a Wii U (kinda ridiculous but oh well). I don't know about y'all but 3D mario world, Pikmin 3, wonderful 101, and all these indie games really sealed the deal for me, this console is incredible.

With that said this article has a very negative slant with lose actual figures for the Wii U. For instance I've seem 3D Mario climb 20 spots on Amazon in the past week alone. And had to go to three stores to find a wii u in my town last week.

Maybe none of that matters but it seems pretty big to me.
