@Medic_alert My argument was that Gamecube shouldn't be higher on the list than phenomenally popular Wii and NES. I pointed some reasons why Gamecube flopped on the marketplace and even had a music example and mentioned about the different "jobs" games do have. All you did was yelling rubbish and then gave me some anecdotes. You never gave me a better measure than impact on the marketplace or better creating a whole new market like the Wii did.

@Medic_alert 14% of the market. Compared to the the N64 "the cartridge system's" 30% that is pretty steep decline. I am sorry but seems like the majority of the market doesn't share your opinion. You do realize that they if they had continued like that they would have been out of the market?

@HammerKirby all industries, including gaming, exist in a series of tiers. Like different games has different jobs. For example Wii Sports is a low tier game. Brilliant game and sport setting is easy to understand even for newcomer. Top tier is probably somekind of Tactical RPG or complex strategy game. Every tier is important so they are not in ranking. You mentioned Zelda and COD. Those games have completely different jobs = they are interesting to different audiences. There is probably no finer or better selling 3d adventure game/tier than BoTW currently.

@Medic_alert To you it can be the greatest system ever made, but that is probably because you happened to be the target audience. I am just saying that people buy different games to fulfill different jobs. Like in music the Operas has different audience than Pop concert - no brainer right? Gamecube was directed for so little niche audience that it was irrelevant against its competition. It was baffling direction to take when considering that the Nintendo's brand have been since the 80's "gaming for everyone". It failed completely to live that expectation which resulted a complete flop saleswise

@Buizel Of course there are some people who are enjoying those games you mentioned. However never ever outside of gaming forums I have heard someone praising Gamecube. Nintendo certainly took action and changed completely their direction with the Wii. They did it because nobody bought Gamecube. If you want to be in this business you have to deliver

@Medic_alert Well the commercial success is kind of vital for the future. Sure you can enjoy anything you want, but generally the consumer behaviours don't lie

@Medic_alert Look I can understand people liking some Gamecube games. But lately, perhaps due to nostalgia, some vocal people on gaming websites or something else there have been people openly declaring the Gamecube is a "fantastic console". Based on the decline it caused Nintendo the Gamecube cannot be considered a "fantastic console" or absolutely not a beast. It was profitable yeah, but that is the only silver lining anyone can say about it. Nintendo knew if they didn’t radically change their direction, they may not be in the home console business for much longer.

Gamecube made Nintendo irrelevant for years in the market and you guys rank it above the two biggest phenomenon of the videogame consoles, the NES and the Wii.
