@SykoMuffin I recently discovered that the Zelda Link to the Past comics by manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori, which was featured in the early Nintendo Power issues, had been compiled and is available as a book! Reading it again brought back so many memories of reading it in the NP magazines. Definitely worth checking out for the Nintendo Power nostalgia and the beautiful artwork!
@WoomyNNYes thanks! I animate on Twitch from time to time, and did once for my toad short but not sure if that stream was saved. I might stream again soon.
Do you remember when there was that official 25th Anniversary Zelda Flipnote art contest judged by the game creators?
This is going to be another thing I miss about the eShop: watching videos! In the eShop, if you search for “Flipnote” and select “Japan Flipnote Winners #1”, there’s a Four Swords video by Flipnote artist “Y Dash” that still blows my mind to this day. The art looks like official solid Link drawings from Nintendo, but with a comic-ink style, and the animation is gorgeous!
Hi Ollie, I’m glad you covered Colors!3D in this countdown! One of the things I love about the DSi and 3DS series is how developers made it possible to create and share art through the Nintendo servers.
I’d like to nominate two other eShop “apps” I recently used, along with Colors, to make a short animated film, completely within the 3DS: Butterfly Animation and Korg M01D Synthesizer.
I made this short as a love letter to the eShop and the potential of the 3DS to create art:

@Eel yes that’s correct, I painted the BGs in Colors!3D, exported them to the SD card, then imported them into Butterfly.
